  1. Never used them but they advertise a Bosch Powerpack 500 battery as 36v 8.7Ah, the genuine battery is 36v and 13.4Ah. Obviously at only approx 1/2 capacity they are not utilising correct capacity cells.
  2. Sorry but for clarification the issue is not holding the + button for walk mode. I know this is a general issue with people, but my problem is erratic + and - buttons causing no change in power mode or skipping two modes. Can be in tour mode and press - to drop to Eco but find myself turned off!
  3. Just out of warranty unfortunately. Yes I agree with the walk mode, good idea in principle but not thought through.
  4. Has anyone stripped a Purion display to clean the + and - button contacts. Mine seem a little temperament with a very small sweet spot, impossible to maintain contact in walk mode. Bosch say take to dealer to run tests/replace.... not very helpful. No obvious screws or ways to split the unit. Bezel can be purchased, so perhaps the way in is under that?? Just hoping someone else has found a way in before I start prying things apart. Any help appreciated.
  5. Currently not riding due to a car "hit and run", left me with a new metal elbow! Cannot wait to get out again, but probably another 2months yet.
  6. Good news, No Charge. They even did a few minor service item I had discussed when I dropped it off.
  7. Thanks all for the comments. I am having the replacement done by the bike supplier but having checked the manufacturers warranty conditions it does state all warranty parts will be supplied free baring labour. So i guess the manufacturer isn't paying the bike shop, hopefully they will take it on the chin, specially as its minimal work and more importantly ??? I am a loyal customer having spent over £12k+ on bikes in last 10years. Lets see how it pans out.
  8. Hi just a quick query regarding replacement Bosch CX motor on my ebike. Has anyone been charged the mechanics time for the warranty motor replacement? This is what my bike supplier is suggesting, though have not picked up bike yet so not sure if i will get this bill. The same bike supplier replaced all my Whyte 46 bearings under lifetime warranty for free, but did charge a nominal fee to transfer all parts once after a previous bike frame cracked and was replaced under warranty. Manufacturer insisted all my components were swapped by bike shop as part of the warranty replacement. I don't feel I should be charged for a warranty replacement part on a £5k+ bike or any bike come to that. Have you any experience of this? Thanks
  9. Nice shot of Malham Cove there Keith. Bet you enjoyed the climb out from where the photo was taken. Have ridden it many times on my Whyte 46, its certainly a lung buster. Have yet to visit the area with my ebike, but certainly looking forward to it, all routes out of Malham to the north are steep! Another good climb is up to The Calf in the Howgills, done one morning a couple of weeks ago.
  10. PRATT, only word that springs to mind. If there was any justice, Colchester Council would fine him for the bench!
  11. UPDATE Bike put on diagnostics and no error codes logged. Everything working normally now, so will have to monitor in future and hope condition doesn't re-occur. At least it is logged with supplier and Bosch now should it re-emerge later.
  12. Thanks for the reply d8veh. The battery was showing 3bars when I completed my ride, a short 10mile but stiff climb circuit from Sedbergh up The Calf and back. It was a cold sunny morning with light snow on the ground. I have previously completed rides of 28miles and 3000ft+ climbing getting down to 1bar of battery, so I was nowhere near battery limits. Perhaps as you say, a cell or two could be going faulty I guess. Hopefully the bike and battery diagnostics on tuesday will shed more light on it. Summit of The Calf before descending into the mist, snow capped Lake District in background.
  13. Following a ride yesterday I was putting gear away when I noticed my Bosch 500wh indicator lights were flashing. The first three bars would illuminate for about 2seconds, then go out for 8seconds, and repeat ad infinitum. Pressing the indicator button did nothing. Putting it on charge did nothing. I contacted the dealer who had never seen this before, but contacted Bosch while I was on the line. The advice was to hold the indicator button for about 10seconds to reset the battery. Unfortunately the button didn't have any effect. It was also suggested to check for cracks in the battery case as water may have found its way in, again nothing obvious. I had to go out for an hour, so left the battery on the garage floor well away from anything (just in case). When i returned the battery had returned to normal and could be charged, the button was operating as expected. The dealer has booked me in tuesday morning to run a full diagnostic to hopefully shed some light on the situation. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?
  14. Clamp goes around top tube and looking at pictures of Levo I still don't see an issue. Worth checking out anyway!
  15. No, the Thule grips round or rectangular section tubing. I have a Whyte PRST4, Whyte 46 and a Mondraker e-crafty XR and they all attach securely.
