batteries and chargers
I totally agree, wisper thinks its a typo error on the case but when measured it outputs 36.5 v but yet charges the new battery but not my older battery and vis a versa. I can't measure the actual voltage under load either as the battery provides resistance. The manufacturer(chinese) is useless although to be fair it is CE marked. No matter onwards and upwards

batteries and chargers
Thanks for that wheeliepete. The trouble is one charger outputs 42v and the other 36v, connections are the same, the 42v is rated at 2amp and the 36v 3amp. As all chargers will work on voltage sensing to start and end charging cycles, there may be some subtle differences although I agree they both should work but they don't! So in the end I will have to keep both chargers at the moment, restarted by the lack of a circuit diagram or more info, cheers

batteries and chargers
Having had a 575 w wisper battery for almost 5/6 years, it began to deteriorate as I would of expected it to do so. Wisper kindly sold me a new battery again 575w but installing it on my 806 only showed 75% full. Plugged my original sans charger in but would only show all green and charged! Put support email in to wisper(not yet replied) But began to wonder about compatibility. In sheer frustration I bought another new charger again from wisper, plugged in and it charged the new battery. The output on the sans charger is 42v but the new one 36v but will not charge the original battery which still has little life left. Despite trawling the internet including the Chinese maker of the charger, no technical specs exist. I appreciate not all end users would require such technical specification but it would help diagnosing any faults which reading a lot of postings, seems to be current topic almost every week. All we know its a small black box which we plug into the battery and hope it safely charges and doesn't overcharge. the 575 w battery is big powerful battery but would expect there not to be a possible compatibility issue. I was tempted to buy a cheaper charger but the lesson maybe not all bike battery chargers are the same! Wisper only sell quality components but this episode, which was costly is timely reminder. I did find a very early posting in 2018 regarding issues with sans charger supplied with the bike. All you get is input voltage and output voltage on the casing itself, hope this may help other with same type chargers.

Locking a Wisper Folding Bike 806
Hi Geoff I have a wisper 806 folder myself and bought a kryptonite - kryptolok series 2 gold secured lock a few years ago. You get the lock itself and an additional armoured cable(plus bike bracket) to extend the range, I have found this to be pretty good and you can also register your keys in case you should loose them. It is heavy mind but has never bothered me. Yes the insurers insist on a sold secure lock alex ps I should also warn you about transporting and storage! I lock my bike inside my car to one of the locking points, insurers always refer to an immovable object! also as I found out if its car or caravan etc you need to remove it to after use to its primary place of registration, this is usually your home but again it must be locked to an immovable object. My insurers agreed to underwrite only is the bike wasn't visible whilst in my car besides being locked, if in doubt speak to them before insuring ps very good bike:)

Wisper battery charging
taken from the actual manual Before charging, make sure the charger is turned off and connect your battery to the charger at the charging socket. Plug the charger into a mains socket and turn on the mains socket. A red lamp will light up on the charger indicate the battery is charging. When the red light turns green, the battery is fully charged. To optimize battery life, leave the charger connected for a further hour and then turn off the charger and disconnect it from the mains after charging. Always disconnect the charger from the mains before disconnecting the charger from the battery. It is possible that the battery will take up to twelve hours to charge on the first three charges. I hope this helps

wisper strange battery issue!
Hi David, thanks for your reply, I have tried agin this morning having only travelled less that 1mile and the battery gave up! put it on charge, the light on the charger is showing green when initially plugged in and remains on green but the battery indicator on the battery shows red and only one green. I am assuming the battery didnt survive the last hibernation cycle and has probably reached its last gasp. I will email claud about it today, I know you have been busy and did email you last year without reply but thnaks for your support and those of the forum guys

wisper strange battery issue!
Hi Guys I hope you are all keeping safe. this refers to a wisper 575 w battery app 4 years old. It has not been overworked and has been well looked after over the years. I put the battery to sleep(Samsung celled with hibernation mode)in January 2020 and decide over the weekend to start to use my bike on a very limited ride( I am 70 and not fit) I checked the battery before fitting: all lights green and when connected to the charger it also showed fully charged status. Fitted to the bike and then it only showed 3/4 full and when I ran the motor a while(no load) it showed a drain on the display. Took it of again checked the battery(all green lights) connected to the charger all green. I have measured the voltage at 38v from the battery but I am struggling to find an answer. Any pointers would be helpful or is the battery by age finished? I have always ensured it remain fully charged since having it. I know batteries do deteriorate over time and loose capacity but would of thought this would show on the battery display itself.

The development of the brand new 2020 Wispers... in Pictures!
David well done I hope the buying public get behind this, apart from the tech specs its just a lovely bike to look at. Now is it a granny scooter this year(sorry grannies) or one of these I did ask on FB about being able to look at one as our local dealer in Bolton has gone. You also mentioned in your early intro about heart monitor? very interested about the detail as I have pacemaker installed.

Thumbs up for Wisper
I couldn't agree more. Been using wisper for 5 years now, not a regular cyclist user admittedly(due to age and infirmity) but have had 2 other makes as well which just dont match up to the quality. I have said it many times on this forum, its when things go wrong that you know you have chosen someone who actual cares! Unfortunately my local dealer has now gone but Wisper are always approachable and David goes that extra mile to help if he can. Its pity the brand isn't fully supported in the UK rather than cheap imports from china and beyond. and the experts on this forum are worth there weight in gold, thank you guys all the best for 2020 and beyond

Sorry it seems a late response David but are those prices inc VAT or Ex? I am aiming to buy one in 2020 when released so price is important, cheers. also excuse me for mentioning the dreaded "B" word but if your manufacturing in Belgium will importing not have a tariff added also?

Not so new kid on the block!
I read with interest about a new kid on the block in the ebike revolution. But...maybe not so new. Harley Davidson are entering the race, no details as too specs or prices but that's going to shake things up bit. So when asked what bike do you own? and you answer a Harley well. This infö found on apple news link below https://apple.news/A85vNynjyTH-2RWOMfRYBxg

Looking at whisper and volt
I have the 575 wh version although its nearly 3-4 years old still manages to do app 30miles and I am big boy so no complaints, but it also depends on what level assist you choose when riding! However the battery needs to be looked after and this particular one allows it to be put to sleep during long no use situations. I am dreading replacing this as it isn't cheap and that goes for any ebike battery. When you think of the replacement cost, and in the case of whisper is £500 so decide on your usage, app distance to travel, and leisure or travel to work?

Help Please!
Hi Pammy, not all ebikes are the same, they make look similar but so many are coming from China and other asian countries beware of longevity! Good ebikes in the main are not cheap, so quality and good after sales service and availability of spares are essential. They do break down occasionally, but as many have said some are British in design and have been tested and meet current EU and UK Laws. Good luck, search for a dealer to have test ride before you buy.

Looking at whisper and volt
Its no mountain bike, but I use it predominantly off road(main roads scare me) on cycle trails, unused railway tracks and some hilly parts of Cornwall and Lancashire. It seemed to be pitched at urban use but I am retired but find it useful as I always have it folded down in the boot of my car If I find a suitable ride out it comes. Considering the size of the wheels you would think it not geared up, but you would be wrong. Im sure your local dealer will oblige with a test ride. Check the ride on utube 806

Looking at whisper and volt
I have a 806 torque for over 2 years now. Folds down a treat, very quiet and pretty powerful and reliable. Only 1 fault in the 2 years. Its been ridden i many places including Cornwall. Its still pretty heavy mind even folded but manageable, as always after sales service is important I believe. The battery is reliable and even after 4 years of intermittent use is still good. Just one criticism in general and it may seem trivial but it would be nice to supply touch up paint pot as you can imagine by its nature it will get scratched as you fold and open. It is also allow step through. Can't say much about Volt no personal experience Good luck.

Anyone dealt with Electric Bike Sales?
Not going to get embroiled in this one. All I wanted to say is Wisper bust a gut for me last year changing bikes with minimum cost. Even when I had a tech problem with no power both Wisper and my local dealer worked together to resolve it at minimal cost. Unless they have been taken over by aliens since I last had contact one of the best bike suppliers in the UK and Claud(yes he does get very busy) attends to every query wether its Wisper of myself. Thank you for your service.

Report: Cycling benefits for the elderly
This is one accessory that goes everywhere with me although mine was a little expensive( i did get it for £60 eventually) its the best in the market and weighs less than a small bag of sugar it has a high back as well very comfy had it for 4 years now still in good condition. I also got small lightweight camping table last year(searched high and low but found one on amazon) which also weighs nothing both fit on my rear carrier rack, Im a big chap beside and this year will be 70 but knackered elsewhere as well But my wisper was my lifeline to enjoyment and plenty of chuckles. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Trekology-Camping-Beach-Table-Aluminum/dp/B01HJ234E0/ref=sr_1_4_sspa?crid=E7KN741K4WED&keywords=camping+table+folding&qid=1552831099&s=gateway&sprefix=camping+table%2Caps%2C227&sr=8-4-spons&psc=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Helinox-Sunset-Chair-Lightweight-camping/dp/B00SJTF9AU/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=helinox+camping+chair&qid=1552831192&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Go to work on a Pineapple! Wisper Folder sneak preview.
I think the pineapple is trade of, I reported on the forum a week ago that whilst out on my wisper 806 folder which has a front drive motor that whilst riding on wet leaves I nearly pooped myself while going downhill as the bike was all over the place, no traction from the front wheel at all. One member recommended changing the tyres to studded although I can't seem to source them, this just for winter. This new bike looks dynamical really good and whilst I am very happy with the Nexus gearset on my current bike a folder is I think a trade of between full dynamics and stability on a full size bike with the convenience of a folder to easily transport which is why I feel this will do well in the market place. I have learnt my lesson and don't expect the same ride as a larger frame bike and adjust accordingly. It would be fantastic to have a duel mode which throttles the power down for winter and ups it during summer, not difficult to do Im sure.
