My little Woosh Gallego
Not at Hi Dave, no mods required, the wheels that are used are scooter style wheels, so unbolt the original ones, swap over the bearings, spacers and adaptors onto the longboard wheels and away you go

My little Woosh Gallego
Totally unrelated, but got a phone call from a friend today who wanted an old bottle dynamo for a TV shot with Max McMurdo! Anyway, I had one and took it over and just happened to have the gallego in the van with me! The whole crew had a go thought it was great and I think I've converted them

I think it's just the way the camera has took the picture

My little Woosh Gallego
The original outer one is fully bottomed in the frame and the inner one has more than 2/3rds of it length inserted, and with them both being thick walled I can't see any problems

My little Woosh Gallego
The good thing about doing it this way is that if you need to drop it down again for a shorter person, say my other half, remove the inner post and turn the post the right way up again and bolt the seat back on - 5 minute job

My little Woosh Gallego
After I built up my Tern Duo electric bike I got the electric bike bug big time and found a listing for an auction sale for a 2 year old Woosh Gallego quite local to me, which I promptly won at £235, which I thought even if I had to replace the battery wasn't too bad of a price. Once I got it I found that the battery capacity was still very good and the bike itself was in quite good condition, just needing a little tlc. The first things I replaced was the bar/stem combo with a set I had from another project as the original clamp was creaking like hell, took the little spring out of the front brake noddle to sharpen up the response and give it a little maintenance. Once I'd been riding it for a bit I decided that at 6foot, I really must get a longer seat post as the standard one was just a little cramped. Turns out that the seat post is 34mm od, which although you can get them as 600mm long there are few and far between, so thought about making a telescopic seat post instead. Turns out it was quite simple, inverting the original seat post, drilling a hole and cutting a slot in the new top, fitting a clamp and sliding a new seat post down the inside - result The internal diameter of the post is 27.8mm and picked up a 300mm long one from amazon.co.uk for £10, a 34mm clamp could be added bit awkward to find but I found one in my spares pile, and I think that it's from a scooter, but don't quote me on that. The rear mech being used as a chain tensioner was also twisted so I've just replaced that with the shorter vintage shimano one with a shortened gold kmc510 chain,a pair of bmx grips for a little more comfort and control over the plastic ones and changed out the travel wheels with a pair of 70mm longboard wheels to make it more stable when folded I absolutely love it and although I bought it for my camper van I'm finding I'm using it around the doors at home too - so I've just ordered a yose power hub kits to convert one of my mountain bikes next Rob

lightweight folding e-Bike (to carry on flights of stairs)
I've never done 5 miles, probably more like 3 mile loops, but handled it fine and really comfortable. Mind you, I'm 6 foot and had to extend the seatpost to get comfortable but that's it. The three speed nexus hub has a nice spread of ratios for the slight but long inclines that I have around here. It's just a pity I'm at the opposite end of the country from you for to try it and compare it against the Brompton.

lightweight folding e-Bike (to carry on flights of stairs)
I'm an avid cyclist but recently my brother picked up a cheap 2nd hand electric folded, I loved it so much I bought myself a 2nd hand folder than I used to convert my tern duo into an front hub electric Which is great, but then I managed to grab this on ebay 2 months ago A woosh Gallego, and I love it I think it takes its design inspiration from the Brompton with the way it folds at the back, complete with little travel wheels, and then just makes it a little better with its concealed battery in the frame and front hub motor. I absolutely love it, its fast, handles well for a small wheeled bike, great brakes, easily removed battery and think it would fit your circumstances quite well. Rob

Hi, here's my little hot rod Tern duo
Hello, newbie here and thought I'd share a conversion I've built up Back story, I've been into bikes as long as I can remember and a few years back I picked up a tern duo on the cycle to work scheme for taking away in the campervan. It's a lovely bike, quite understated in black but has neat little touches such as an automatic two speed rear hub with coaster brake, pump in the seat post and built in mounts for luggage Recently, after surgery my brother has been told to try and improve his fitness and turned up at my house on a cheap 2nd hand electric bike, nothing fancy think it's a viking or something, but once I'd had a go I thought it was great So I've been watching gumtree, ebay etc and picked up a 2 year old but unused 24v coyote which I've transferred the battery and rack, pas, led display and front wheel onto the tern. My reckoning was I'd have everything to hand to do a straight swap. It kinda worked, had to buy a new fork for the tern as the original one was only 75mm between drop outs and I'm now having problems with the battery not holding charge but the main problem was traced to the 5 magnet pas ring was broken and missing the sensor, I knocked up an 8 magnet one out of a bit of number plate and some Neodymium magnets and now it's running nicely. I've been trying to sort out the battery by balance charging off my BA6 charger, but if the worse comes to the worse I'll upgrade it to a 36v battery and controller for more capacity Anyway hope you like it.
