  1. So I went back to the shop to to pick up a bag today and got some more details. So he has a battery tester, a customer bought a 500w battery upgrade a month or so ago. The customer come back saying the range on his bike wasn't much different so they tested the battery and he only had 412w of power but Bosch replied saying it was "within spec" and refused to do anything about it. He couldn't offer a refund as the shop would have to take the hit and NOT Bosch! How the hell is this fair? if im buying a 500w battery i want to get a 500w battery! not 410!!!
  2. I use a Abus Granit x-plus 540 for the frame and rear wheel, kryptonite messenger for the front wheel and this bicycle alarm / light. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MQ2KL1I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It fits right in the seat and is quite hard to get at. It's a very simple alarm but everyone who has had a look at it who I know has a bike has got one now!
  3. So I'm running a Bosch Active line plus system and it hasn't missed a beat! No cut outs, pulls my weight fine and I'm getting great mileage from my battery(45/50miles in tour mode)! So I got talking to a official Bosch dealer / service center near me and the stuff he told me about how the Bosch warranty works is truly shocking and some of the finer details worried me to be honest. The main things which shocked me the most were * Service centers are NOT allowed store commonly needed service parts. They must be ordered when needed. * The Bosch power pack can have as much as 40% missing capacity and it is NOT deemed as faulty! He has had customers by brand new packs with 25% missing capacity and Bosch refused to replace it. * Simple motor problems that could be fixed with the right parts in stock 9 times out of 10 the whole motor has to be sent off and normally a Bosch just sends out a whole new motor. Problem is this can take weeks when the repair could just take an hour or so. I personally would hate to be waiting weeks to get my bike back when I now know it properly be fixed in house with the right parts. Don't get me wrong I do understand that there must be reasons for these systems to be in place but I can see from a service centers side of things it must be a right pain in the ass to have such restrictions put on you. Any work in any Bosch service centers in here? What are they like to work with? Just wondering.
  4. Hey man, I had this exact issue with my crossfire and it was a massive headache for me! Staff at my Halfords ended admitting to me that they shouldn't sell the bike due to the high amount they get back. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/crossfire-e-dumped-for-crossfuse.32602/ I made a post about it! I believe that it is the BMS tripping as my whole system was replaced and it was still doing it!
  5. So I've tried two sets of rear mud guards and I still get really bad back spray when it rains! Sounds silly but what am I doing wrong?
  6. " Well mate, your wife seems very impressed by it, I'm not the only one cheating " wink wink. * rides off in turbo mode *
  7. it was 6.30am lol but I think I'll go with this response if it happens again!
  8. Yeah.... i may have said "what the f has it got to do with you? who the hell am I cheating??" I think I was pissed because he made me take out my earphones. First off I thought he was telling me something was wrong with my bike. I can deal with banter but this 100% wasn't! I've been lucky 99.999% of all my interactions has been positive since being back on a bike. So who are we cheating? I spend most of my time above 16mph so I'm working harder due to the bike weighing the same as a small car lol
  9. this was 100% negative sure. He seemed almost pissed off at me lol
  10. Cycling to work this morning I stopped at the lights and another cyclist stopped next and randomly called me a cheater. "Oi that's cheating riding that" Yeah.... it was 6.30am and I hadn't had my coffee so I didn't really deal with it the best way.... I may have got a bit angry, got a bit sweary and he road off quite fast. Not sure what response he was after to be honest, he wasn't joking that is for sure! What's with the anti ebikes vibe from other cyclists? I don't get it! Anyone else have these kind of issues before?
  11. Wow you're getting 3000 miles from your tyres?? thought they needed changing every 1500 lol
  12. So much useful information in here! Thanks for your replies! The long and short of it, it really depends on how you ride the bike? Most of my time is spend on the flat using tour mode. I'm a big rider at 98kg and I do spend a lot of time stood up as I like riding that way so I think they will lower the life of the drive system! I am going to report back on here when I need to change parts. I've pretty much replaced both my motorcycle and car with my ebike so I'll be covering about 100/150 miles a week so I'll be hitting my high mileage pretty quick!
  13. That is a very nice sporty motor! You've got 30 Nm more torque than me! I think the Active Line Plus motor is a bit more friendly to the drive system as it's a weaker motor! I love the look of the Giant E+! You've got a nice bike! I mainly do road riding as well
  14. Guess it could be handy if the display ever broke or something? Don't know really why it would turn on lol
  15. How many miles are you getting out of your chainrings? What motor are you running?
  16. I've put together a chain cleaning kit. degreaser, Chain cleaning brush, 3 in 1 chain spray ( It was recommended to me ) and a bunch of rags to clean it up. I'm planning on cleaning the chain every 100ish miles depending on the weather! The active line plus isn't that powerful so I'm hoping that I'll get around 1250 /1500 miles per chain. Halfords said that I should get around 5000 miles from the rear cassette. E-Bikes are really new to me and I keep finding a lot of conflicting information. I'm under the understanding that as I've got a large crank drive this will lower the wear on the chain? The new active line plus motors do shut off when changing gear to try to help with the wear on the chain now!
  17. What mileage are you getting before needing to replace the chain?
  18. I've been looking at buying some supplies for my bike just in case I need anything I will have to hand. My question what is the best Ebike cassette + chain combo for long life? I'd rather pay the extra money and get more miles out of my parts. I've been reading that mid drive motors needs their chains replacing every 500 miles? I'm already at 200 miles lol
  19. Hi all, So I thought I've been going mad thinking that my bike has been turning itself on by itself when I've been reversing the bike put of the bike cages at at. So while cleaning the chain today I was back pedalling the bike and I noticed the display turn on! So I turn it off again, I then back pedal the bike and it all comes alive 100% of the time. Is this normal for the Active line Plus motor? Haven't had any error codes or anything, just checking there isn't a bigger fault i need to worry about! Thanks in advance
  20. It nearly put me off to be honest but I did a lot of research about ebike and the Crossfuse is a really big up upgrade so I just paid the extra cash!
  21. Mike, I was told the exact same thing "the bike is just heavy". I knew something wasn't right because it was almost unrideable with the motor off. Also the "eco" mode was completely useless, barely did anything! The eco mode of the crossfuse is MUCH better. You do notice the extra weight on the crossfuse but the bike is never fighting you, you feel like you can easily free roll! To be honest, I'm shocked Halfords even bothers selling the Crossfire anymore with it's long list of issues! Which is a massive shame, as it is a really good bike when it's working!
