  1. Yes much easier to do my daily hour on the nearly empty roads than dodging dog walkers and phone zombies milling about on our cycle tracks...
  2. “‘A pint of water weighs a pound and a quarter, a gallon weighs 10 pounds” pounded into me in primary school many years ago. It’s also why there are twenty fluid ounces in a pint. All UK measurements of course, USA gallons are different. 1 litre of water weighs exactly 1kg. Rounding errors in your conversion left you .0028lb out, not too shabby...
  3. Yep, phone zombies, dogs, mobility scooters, prams and push chairs all seem to pass for cycles where I live. Not forgetting tree-root humps, potholes, brambles and nettles that add spice to the ride...
  4. This is a good explanation of UK law https://www.micro-scooters.co.uk/community/2019/01/electric-scooters-adults-kids-legal/
  5. I chose to buy the COBI bike unit for my haibike instead. I’ve had it for about 3 months and I’m very pleased with it so far. The Satnav seems pretty good though I don’t use it often. It does integrate with Komoot for mapping as well as Strava for fitness.
  6. Yes but those pointless islands in the middle of the road are deadly - they should at least have a separate passing point for bikes.
  7. If you go the website of the wheel manufacturer they usually show the range of tyre widths that are suitable for each of their models.
