  1. As i mentioned . i approached M&S insurance who covered me on my contents insurance for my Riese & Muller for £6500 , they cover e-bikes Cover for pedal cycles at home, with optional cover to help protect your bikes when you’re out and about
  2. I highly recommend the Supernova m99 pro e-45 2021 which has a automotive high beam and ECE approved low beam with day time running lights , not cheap , but super bright light at 1600 lumen
  3. One should always try and get their bikes onto their contents insurance, instead of those expensive stand alone policies , a lot of companies will do that but that depends on the value of the bike , i was due to renew my home insurance having been with this company for years , no way would they insure my £6500 Riese & Muller , so shopped about and went for a policy with M&S paying an extra £56 for the bike which covers me on EU tour also

  5. The difference in example Holland , is the fact that the great majority of car drivers also have bikes !
  6. Had them a few years ago, total waste of time and simply fitted Tannus armour inserts with slightly smaller inner tube with Schwalbe moto x tyres .
  7. Had this guy who came up to me while i was just sitting off my bike , now he has this flash road bike, and was dressed all in black like batman and started to comment on my bike and how fast it was going , reminding me of the speed limit on e bikes etc and that it was people like me who gave cyclists a bad name , obliviously i had to answer that with a story about being behind some local club riders who were doing at least 30 mph and that i was just managing to keep up with them , he didn't like the part when i asked him if he drives a car and had ever exceeded the road speed limit , he then goes off on one , and says i was going to fast and that he couldn't catch me, i told him to get an e-bike like mine and then maybe he could next time, or if not he needed to get some fat off and get fitter on his own bike , obviously i can not print what i said next ? like this guy was behind me at some point and i had no interaction on the road with him .As for how i explain e-bikes to the un-educated , i just let them have ago on mine and like point out that you still have to work it hard to get the best out of it and that some of the best riders have assist bikes , more so the mountain bikers who can spend longer time on big mountains .
  8. From my own experience and preferred E-bike for long distance touring their is nothing on sale in the UK that can touch Riese & Muller for their engineering and future innovation given they have produced excellent award winning bikes with their new Bosch 4 gen motors, the new 625 watt tube batteries , Rohloff e-14 gear hubs and Gates Carbon drive belt
  9. i have an R&M Supercharger, not a cheap bike as you can appreciate and asked my Home insurance company M & S if i could put in on my contents insurance , no problem !
  10. I will second that , have them fitted on my R&M supercharger , running Schwalbe super moto x with green guards which have doubled the protection, had a bit of a struggle getting them in . Schwalbe Super Moto-X GreenGuard
  11. Hi, South Gare Lighthouse which was built in 1884 at the end of the breakwater at South Gare north west of Redcar in North Yorkshire and in north eastern England.
  12. Hi ,as a long distance touring cyclist i have used the Rohloff gear hub for a number of years with no problems , last year i purchased a R&M supercharger GX which has Rohloff e-14 and gates carbon drive belt and can honestly say they are well worth the money , and a very impressive gear combination with smooth effortless changing , and talking from experience , i also have a few friends who have travelled far and wide with the same set up on their Hybrid bikes (standard Rohloff hub ) and none of them have experienced any maintenance issues , easy to maintain and free from the usual mud that one finds on some of the trails during rainy seasons that cause havoc with a chain and derailleur set up . Having completed a long tour last year of Europe with my super charger my overall impression of the bike is 09 out of 10 based on its reliability and its power as a robust touring e-bike where in my opinion their is no other bike out their to match it , i base my 09 on the fact that i had some paint wear on the pannier rack caused by the panniers rubbing , which R&M addressed , the new 2020 version has addresses that issue and as you probably know vastly improved upon their 2019 version in other areas .
  13. RE: Helmets, Abus make great e-bike specific design helmets
  14. The photos that i put up are just the main wear , the rack is a mess, like the metallic matt finish is to thin and inferior , sure , maybe i should have taped up the contact points, that would be where the stay clips attach , but its the whole bag that is against the rack , so like i tape the whole rack ! and like i have been touring the planet with Tubus racks and never experienced this before , as for how my dealer views this, he says the paint sucks , cheap for a very expensive bike.
  15. Like i said , i have used Tublus racks for years with no problem, do you own a supercharger ? the paint work is a matt black finish and easily rubbed off , by non metallic parts and even my own dealer has commented on the amount of R&M bikes he has seen that use those pannier racks with worn paint.
  16. Just thought i would post an issue that i have had with my new R&M supercharger GX, purchased from new seven month ago, i completed a tour in Europe and found that the rear pannier rack had suffered significant paint wear, caused by my Ortlieb panniers rubbing on the rear support bars. i have contacted R&M and their reply was ............. thank you very much for the forwarded pictures. The damage is, as described by you before, most probably caused by the friction of bike bags. As we are aware that this can happen under certain circumstances, we included a recommendation, in our bike instruction manual, to secure the contact points with tuffcoat foil. To prevent further damage, we are happy to provide you tuffcoat foil. This would however need to be delivered to a Riese & Müller specialist of your choice, as we only deliver to our contract partners. We would also like to advise you to contact your local Riese& Müller bike dealership yourself. There they might be able to cover up some of the patches with finish. It would be nonetheless, most important to again cover the contact points with foil, after any kind of repairs has been done. I Have contacted my dealer, who thinks the cover paint job is a non starter, and is working on a better solution ? , i explained to R&M that i previously used Tubus racks and that the paint never rubbed off , and pointed out that they should validate their paint as it appears to be inferior to others, as for how the bike will look with this Tuffcoat foil or any other protection !, would not look good as an advertisement for what is a very expensive E-bike which was specially designed for touring , however one must protect the rear rack if considering using panniers. Note photos show identical wear both sides
  17. The best in my opinion would be the Tubus !
  18. A bit of a mind field when its comes to expensive bikes, given i thought that i was insured with the AA until they came back with something about speed and cost of bike , in words they declined the thought of a Reise & Muller super charger GX 2019 as to much of a risk , so went and had a look at M&S buildings and contents and had no issues, they even specify that they cover e-bikes and insured mine up to the retail price i paid for it plus cover away from home , and world wide , Far cheaper than those stand alone bike insurance policies out there !
  19. go into go compare, and the AA insurance is really good with cover at home, away and even abroad, i took out house and contents policy and got introduction offer all under 200
  20. Just sorted out my new R&M supercharger Rohloff gx through AA insurance which gives me bike insurance for the retail price i paid at home and outside and up to 7.500 if abroad with house + insurance premium as an introductory offer went via go compare, all under 200 quid
  21. Hi , i have just joined Pedelecs as i am about to move over to the E-bike world and take charge of a new R&M Supercharger GX Rohloff and one of my first priorities given the value of the bike was to assess the security of it and one of the things that came to mind is the Abus plus folding lock which is fitted and locked into the rear seat area. I have asked Reise & Muller if the Abus plus is one of the gold standard locks , getting a vague answer, the dealer who i am buying the bike from has assured me it will be the one that was cracked ...say no more, but i think that i will use my trusted liteLok
