  1. Thanks all for feedback. Looked at all suggestions. In the end went for Swinton, B&C , £3k P.effects away from home up to £2k ebike +hh legal Aprox £106 (increased excess for buildings) includes cashback.
  2. As a follow on for this one must or should come clean to the value (new for old same model). My 5 year old ebike was automatically covered up to £1000 , but the value to buy new is around £2000.-cover away from home .Therefore the insurance company would not have paid out (as per advised over the telephone) . They take the view you could be displaying a Rolls Royce ebike without charging the correct premium.
  3. Has anyone recently added their Ebike to their HH insurance OR better still it can be covered up to £x under the extension of Personal effects away from home. Under this section the policy document sometimes specifically includes an ebike OR exclude ebike, which saves the hassle of ringing them up once you have got a decent quotation for combined building & contents (which is generally cheaper than 2 separate policies) especially if one uses a comparison website. Appreciate old posts on this subject have already been discussed , but the insurance companies seem to change their t&c from year to year. Also, personally I always shop around rather than automatically renew and use cashback sites eg quidco.
  4. Many thanks for all replies. Finally ended up with Churchill where it is mentioned in documents up to £500. You can increase and it was more reasonable compared with others. They also have offer of free coffee m/c via MSE website so hopefully some compensation for shopping around.
  5. Just rang and they won't add if more than £1500. They even refuse if I was prepared to accept maximum payout of £1500.
  6. When I go online for quote with SAGA the cost is nearly £100 for value of £1950 so perhaps they give it to existing customers only.
  7. Forgot to say AGE UK would also not cover nor is it mentioned in their policy document - which is a shame as you can get £94.50 cash back (building & contents)
  8. INSURANCE, just bought my new bike and trying to get it added to a HH policy. Reading this forum one member used Dial Direct. Went on their site and added as a cycle and rates ate very good. Looked at the policy document and yes it's not excluded and also covers P.liability. HOWEVER quotation screen says "NOT Electric cycles" so rang to query. After a very long discussion they will not (at the moment) and have not covered electric bikes. So just in case anyone is using them I would give them a ring. If anyone else has new suggestions with HH please add to this thread. There are specialist insurers who gives extra cover at a much higher price and usually based on values will want it clamped to a steam roller using a ships chain.
