Cube Reaction Hybrid Performance 400 27.5/29 2021 E-Bike - Iridium
Hi guys I have the chance to buy this bike for £1800 under the cycle to work scheme. I currently have a Crossfire bike which I love. Any thoughts on this one in terms of performance, value, comparison to my existing bike etc? Looks like the battery is in the bike - any concerns? Many thanks as always, Mark

NEW Carrera Crossfuse
Very helpful re lights. I have ordered. Any suggestions on bottle cage?

NEW Carrera Crossfuse
I bought my crossfuse from Halfords and haven't regretted it. As others have said super quiet and great range. I don't think there are bolts for a bottle cage. Can anyone recommend an alternative? Also looking for some lights for daytime type use - not too expensive and ideally from Amazon - any suggestions? many thanks

Bike servicing
I think the suggestion was the electrics wouldn't be covered. I'd be surprised if Bosch really are that fussy

Bike servicing
Ah sorry - no its an annual policy which includes one of their bronze services and 2 silver services in the year - https://www.halfords.com/advice/cycling/service/service-centre?rmsrc=1&cm_mmc=GooglePPC-_-PACS%20-%20Tools%20%26%20Maintenance%20-%20Service-_-Service-_-Text%20Ad&source=ppc&_$ja=tsid:57505%7Ccid:1739468379%7Cagid:69803797642%7Ctid:aud-271742666404:kwd-367337404%7Ccrid:224645307966%7Cnw:g%7Crnd:1240574794794932695%7Cdvc:c%7Cadp:%7Cmt:p%7Cloc:9046225&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI176chpyG5wIVV-DtCh3XFwawEAAYASAAEgK9nfD_BwE

Bike servicing
Hi all, Carrera Crossfuse picked up and ride home real nice. There was however some slight noise while peddling which didn't sound right so need to get checked. Halfords guy recommended £70 pa servicing saying it was a condition of Bosch warranty that your bike was serviced. I have until this weekend to decide whether I take this out. I'd welcome any views. thanks Mark

Best lock?
LOL - no I put her under the patio.

Best lock?
So my new bike arrives Tuesday. Next challenge - get the right security. Its a Carrera Crossfuse and will be locked at home in a locked shed, left outside Lidl sometimes when I pick up the shopping and on the odd occasion elsewhere eg Newark town centre. Ideally I'm wanting a lock I can use at home and when travelling but appreciate 2 different locks might be needed. I understand some locks provide "insurance" though a quick look indicates that's only if the bike disappears by the lock being broken - not sure that will always be something easy to prove however this would be a bonus. Thoughts welcome. thanks Mark

Woosh - thumbs up?
Gosh - I did start hares running! So as the OP I probably should share that after a few days of very helpful input from the forum I have gone for a.... Carrera Crossfuse. I was really torn and Woosh look brilliant and love the design and the speed of replies etc but ultimately I had just heard too many times from the experienced the benefit of a Bosch motor etc. Time will tell whether I've made a good choice. Thanks all.

Woosh - thumbs up?
Woosh input in the forums is prolific and everything I have found is positive. For those following my search for a new bike I went into Cycle Republic today to be told the 10% discount voucher I have through work is not valid on sale bikes. I wouldn't mind but this is not what the terms & conditions say so feeling a bit miffed as that would have saved me £150 on the Crossfuse and brought it to a reasonable £1350. However this disappointment has led me back to looking at the Woosh bikes. The camino looks fun with the throttle as does the faro though I'd probably want the larger battery (be lovely to be able to add this just when you need it and use the smaller one the rest of the time). I will probably give them a call to chat through but meanwhile welcome any further feedback from purchasers good or bad. I am in Newark so any problems with the bike will be far more difficult than walking into my local Halfords but the bike looks excellent value for money. Also can anyone comment on delivery time? Finally, any experience of real world range for these 2 bikes please? Thanks for everyone's continued help in my search. Mark

Newbie needs advice on bike choice please
Thanks again Rob. Anyone recommend cycle republic or not! Anywhere else I should be looking? Cant see others doing a Bosch powered bike at this price.

Thanks - so sounds like avoid Carrera, Scott sounds like a winner though bit wary about cycle republic's trust pilot score - any views on the Raleigh?- Newbie needs advice on bike choice please
Thanks Rob - I could probably use my current bike when I want a real work out - I'm assuming though if I'm on low power I can still feel like Im getting plenty of exercise?- Newbie needs advice on bike choice please
Thanks that's really helpful. I was going from one of the guides so small should work fine. Can I ask do you find you can still get plenty of exercise with it? I say this because this is more about expanding where I can get to rather than reducing the exercise as I'm pretty fit and want to keep that way. If you turn the motor off is it like using a normal bike or does the weight make that prohibitive? On the recharging of the battery how easy is it to take off the battery to charge? Do you recharge every journey? Cycle Republic don't get great Trustpilot reviews - any experience? Also another curved ball - the Raleigh Strada W - if I'm going to £1300-£1400 then this comes into the list. Any views Vs the Scott? Sorry for all the questions but this is all very helpful! OK thanks for that - I have to say this is leading me back to the Scott which is a problem as Rutland are now out of stock and cycle republic only have the small frame left - I'm 5ft 8" 29" inside leg so thing I need a medium. Anyone recommend alternative sources as £1200 looks like it was a very good price.- Newbie needs advice on bike choice please
I'm rubbish at DIY that's one thing I know! What tyres would you recommend for rural roads (tarmac but lumps/bumps/potholes)? Also I'm 5ft 8" is the Frame too large for me?- Newbie needs advice on bike choice please
Thanks Jonah. I popped into Halfords this afternoon and they have proposed a test ride of the Carrera Crossfire - any thoughts?- Newbie needs advice on bike choice please
Thanks all - the Faro does look interesting. I like the fact that with the internal battery it looks like a normal bike. Good price too. Would the tyres be suitable for typical rural roads? Also do I don't think I'd go for the larger battery as it looks very bulky. Would I regret a bike with less power and less battery life? All thoughts welcome!- Newbie needs advice on bike choice please
I'm 53 yo and semi-retired. I'm lucky to live in a Nottinghamshire village with some great flat countryside around. I currently enjoy a 35 minute cycle twice a week and want to extend this with more free time and a keenness to exercise. I am generally limited to 45 min trips and want to explore some villages and sights further afield so think an electric bike looks a great option. I have had a road cycle in the past but found it wasn't really for me and currently enjoy a mountain bike but could fancy something a little lighter and not quite as wide tyres so a hybrid looks good. As I don't go out too often and I'm not using for commuting I don't want to spend a fortune. Options I have looked at include the Decathlon Riverside 500 at £1000 (https://www.decathlon.co.uk/riverside-500-electric-hybrid-bike-id_8405314.html)and the Scott sub active ride 2019 which I saw mentioned here at £1200 (https://www.rutlandcycling.com/bikes/electric-bikes/scott-sub-active-eride-2019-electric-crossbar-hybrid-bike-bronze_462484). I went into my local cycle republic but needless to say they want me to Spend £1500-£1800 which I really don't want to do. The Scott has a Bosch motor which they mentioned but gets marked down on the cycle republic reviews for heaviness and a real difficulty to charge without taking the battery off (https://www.cyclerepublic.com/scott-sub-cross-eride-30-mens-electric-hybrid-bike-2019.html). Im looking to purchase asap whilst the sales are on and 2019 bikes are still around and would welcome your experience and views. thanks Mark - Newbie needs advice on bike choice please
