  1. I looked on eBay fora while but a lot of sellers hadn't looked after batteries properly, and expected to sell at not much less than a new bike.As the cost of a new battery is significant,I factored in the potential cost of replacement batteries when considering what to offer. In the end I bought a new bike, after looking for a few months on eBay and gumtree.
  2. I've recently purchased my first ebike so am no expert. Because of stock shortages everywhere, I had plenty of time to research exactly what I wanted. I'm 5ft 3,but with a longer inside leg, so thought I'd be OK with an 18inch frame. Because of the additional weight of an ebike, I modified my choices. After trying a few normal bikes, I realised I'd need a smaller frame and wheels no bigger than 26 inches. I'm so pleased I took my time, as I may well have ended up with a bike that was too big for me. I had to discount several bikes because they were just too big,and I feel more secure being able to put my feet on the ground. If you can, try a few bikes for size, and see what you feel most comfortable with. I got a santana three from woosh, which I'm really pleased with. Hatti from woosh was very helpful and able to offer lots of useful advice. Juicy and wisper were also very helpful. Good luck finding the right bike first time.
  3. I started looking a few months ago and now on wait list for woosh santana 3. I looked at some of the bikes you mentioned. The Pendleton has a small battery, and until a few months ago was retailing around £750,and was in the sale last summer for £550. Components are basic for the price. I thought it was overpriced. Cyclotricity seems good for the money, but there have been several posts mentioning that build quality isn't that good. I have emailed them several times and had no response Juicy bikes seem to get a good press, and they have been very helpful on the phone. Kudos don't seem to respond to any emails either. I was put off the safari because of the weight, think it was around 29 kgs,and lack of support. My plan was to try bikes when local shops opened, but that has been impossible as no stock will be available to try until October. I subsequently went online ,but wanted a retailer that offered decent after sales service. That left me with wisper and woosh, but wisper 705 was slightly too big for me. The enforced delay in purchasing has not been a bad thing as I've decided against certain bikes . In an ideal world I'd have waited to try bikes and bought locally. Good luck
  4. That's where I sent emails to . Given up now
  5. I initially wanted to buy from them, but had no response to a few emails, and calling was a waste of time, so just gave up. Good luck getting issue resolved.
  6. I've been looking at Dutch type bikes under £1300 . Have a look at wisper 705 24inch wheel version, juicy have a couple suitable for smaller riders. They're around the 24 kgs mark, but you'd need to pay more to get a lighter bike. Kudos has a 24 inch bike, think it's called Sprint, which is lighter. Ezego do a ladies commuter bike in a 15" frame. Sadly there's very little stock available anywhere, but should improve by September. She might be better waiting six months. Probably several others I've not found or forgotten. I haven't been able to try any of them, so can't comment on how they ride.
  7. I've been looking for a bike now for a couple of months. I'd have liked to try Wisper,Juicy and Woosh. Shops in Ayr only stock a couple of brands. Budget range for one shop is raleigh, other shop is ezego, Raleigh is out of my budget, and no stock of ezego until September or October. Both shops have much more expensive ranges. Kilmarnock and Irvine both have expensive bikes, starting from around two thousand. Have a look at powerbikes in Dumfries. They have a great range starting from around a thousand. I've thought about buying from them, but I want the service of a fairly local shop. I'm surprised at what you say about mountain bikes. I've been e bike spotting since Christmas, and see far more mountain bikes than Dutch style bikes, apart from along the sea front. Have a look on gumtree and eBay too,as most of the bikes for sale locally seem to be mountain bikes. Let me know when you plan to open . Also remember the Scottish government loan scheme for four years interest free credit on e bikes. Good luck
  8. I was just going to ask the same. I'm near Ayr and would love to support a local retailer.
  9. Same happened to me in three shops this week. I really want to try before I buy, but very frustrating. Also there's very little stock of anything. Good luck !
  10. Just introducing myself as I want to say a huge thanks to all the contributors of this site. I've learnt so much in the last month, so much so that I'll probably delay purchase until I can get to bike shops when they have stock to try, or online retailers have stock. I've fancied an e bike for a while , as I live at the top of hills on both sides, and leaving on my bike is always great, but getting back is a bit of a struggle. I'm looking for a step through, with a budget of around £1100 as I'm a fair weather cyclist, and can't really justify spending a lot, but am happy with a decent second hand bike.I want to mainly cycle myself, just using the motor on hills. I qualify for an interest free loan , courtesy of the Scottish government , so might be able to push the budget up a bit if I go for a new bike .I want to use it for an eight mile round trip to town, and have been researching online. I like the look of the Woosh Santana 3, and Wisper 705, but my local bike shop sells Ezego bikes, and I like the look of the Step NX26, or for a lighter bike, the Commute Ex Ladies. I'll need to transport the bike on a rear carrier every so often, so I'd like a bike I can lift. We thought about a conversion kit, but both my bikes are ancient and not worth it. I'll probably be asking for more detailed advice after I've tried riding a couple of bikes. I probably would have bought sight unseen a few weeks ago, but there's no stock , so I'll try to be patient. Thanks again
  11. Did you buy the bike from eBay from a seller in Grangemouth by any chance? I was interested until they said battery hadn't been charged for five years.
