  1. All OK now, I purchased one and it works a treat. Dave
  2. I ordered one from Germany that I found, seems like a decent firm with good reviews. However, I went out on the bike this morning just using the rear hub and that battery is well on it`s way out as well so the chap you are referring to could maybe refurbish the original? the bike is the forerunner of the Oxygens that takes the drop in battery behind the seat post and would need to be of the same design. I can buy a new Oxygen battery but they are very expensive so a refurb would be good if someone can provide me with the guys details. Thanks for your help Dave
  3. I have a rear wheel hub and it is fine. After I had a heart attack and to assist me I fitted a front wheel hub as well (only for riding off road tracks obviously) it makes all the difference being as I also have worn out knees. I only use the front hub when I struggle on uphill sections but that battery has gone legs up. It`s 36V and would like to replace it with something more than 10amp. That battery is in a bag on the rear carrier so I don`t have to worry about specific design although kettle plug fitting would make it easier. Looking around on Amazon and e bay etc there are lots of options. The better ones are very expensive but there are a number around or just over £200 and as it is just a back up I`m thinking that should do me. So, where to buy is my question and a new charger to match would be an added bonus. Thanks for any pointers Dave
  4. Yeh! at present, new cooker, work to be done on my van and the central heating guy is due in the morning to have a listen to a boiler problem and since the last heart attack I`ve hung up my tools. We`ll see, I know the re-cell is really the way to go, more so with my wife`s bike it will at least go back into the carrier. We have 2 e folders that have no batteries and my wife`s smaller Cyclamatic battery is dead. The answer is to only have one bike each at any one time as far as batteries go. I have run the cyclamatic and the folders all on 2x 15 Amp SLA`s and they do for a while but not for any distance. Using an E bike every day as transport to and from work seems to be the best way to get the best out of batteries. Using them during summer and just now and then is quite expensive from a mileage per battery point of view.
  5. Have any of you people ever considered a single wheel trailer with 3 x 12v car batteries? I know that SLA batteries can fall short of the Amh required but car batteries should be OK???
  6. Thanks, sorry it took me a while to answer, I was waiting for an e mail to let me know someone had answered my post but nothing came through. So, not much has changed, almost half the cost of a cheap bike for the battery. What have you found is the average life span for a battery on the bikes? I have made up SLA battery packs and although they do work they certainly don`t seem as good as Li-ion and are quite a lot heavier. That`s always what people ask when I`m out and about "how long and how much are the batteries" and that always seems to be the sticking point for a lot of possible adopters. Dave
  7. Hiya I`ve been out of e bikes for a while after having another heart attack, anyway for the need of some light local exercise out comes the bike and it works fine. My wife wants to be along with me for obvious reasons at least for a while and we also want to take our bikes on my van to pastures fresh in Norfolk where we live. Her bike is a Synergie (from alien when they were still trading) and the usual thing is that the battery is getting old. It`s a 36v brushed motor(I think it`s only 10Amp) connection is the usual kettle plug (looks like the reverse to most I`ve seen, the battery is female and the fly lead is male with the pins) no problem because I can make up a patch lead if required. I`m out of touch, whats available now days or any suggestions from you guys and gals? Batteries always seemed to be the big problem so I suppose things haven`t changed much. I don`t suppose any new battery I can adapt will silde in the carrier but I can rig something up to mount the battery on top of the carrier if need be. I`d appreciate any help or suggestions please Dave
  8. I did watch that and others but can`t see anything specific on the movement sensor but having great fun.
  9. I just treated myself to an sj4000 video cam. I`ve been into photography for most of my adult life so am not easily pleased with IQ from most cams. I must say that I am impressed with the video performance on the bike and in the car. OK, it`s not anything like my Canon 5dmk3 as far as video goes but for what you use it for it does a great job. Couple with Adobe Photoshop CC and you can produce some really decent footage. Q. I`ve only had it for a few days, I set it up near our bird feeding platform and set it to record on movement, it worked OK but i know that it didn`t capture everything that was moving and at times there were a number of collared doves feeding for 5 mins and there were only a few short clips recorded. I`m wondering if the movement recording feature is maybe in some way linked to the self timer settings. anyone using the camera can advise? BTW this is the genuine camera and not one of the cheaper copies. thanks
  10. I remember when I first joined, my first bike was a powertrek dynamo, as I remember eddie told me that I had been sold a pup and it was rubbish and then some time down the road the guy that started oxygen bikes said that he had had one and basically (as I remember) he fashioned his bike range on them and sure enough some years down the line the old powertrek is still going strong with a very quiet rear motor that is very light on battery life, it`s comfortable, easy to handle and has never let me down other than a puncture before i fitted Marathons. I wondered where he had gone!!!
  11. The cat in the picture died just before Christmas at only 4 years old, he just fell over and passed away.(we don`t know why and the vet had a look at him and couldn`t find anything wrong so just one of those things, he was my wifes special mate and she still gets upset.) We still have four others that were found just wandering around as kittens and we took them in so plenty of cats for now. That`s why our pets are so loved because they are only on loan to us for a short while. Some of the new stuff sounds great. I still have my old bikes that I had before and they will do me for riding around the lanes. I have pushed quite a number of other amateur hams onto this site, lets face it, the world can hear me at times :-) Dave
  12. Hiya I remember you well :-)
  13. Hiya mate, long time no talk.
  14. Hi flecc, there are a lot more bikes to choose from now. Have there been any new break throughs in battery technology?
