  1. I'm with David here. The cost for us to buy a Panasonic battery, for example is far higher than to buy an unbranded battery from the market. There are a few reasons we use a branded battery: 1. Good quality cells that last longer 2. Good electronic connectors and packing to make it safe and durable 3. Peace of mind that its safe 4. MSDS documents that make shipping much easier. There is also the margin aspect, which I have touched on before. We have to make a margin, as do the dealer so we can pay our overheads and keep supporting bikes in the market. Look at 'David1949's post about distance support, its not as straight forward for the consumer. Whereas if he had a dealer locally to pop into it would be much less hassle. But that dealer isn't, obviously, going to work for nothing. I think the dealer network is crucial to the development of the market and this is something BEBA strongly stands by. We can all sell batteries cheaper if we sell direct Just our view. Mark
  2. Hi Overlander. That is an error, they are restricted to 15.5mph. The law now specifies 'off-road' buttons as illegal. If you are using them off road we can re-program the controller to 22mph. Thanks Mark
  3. Hi Bob, The basics, how a e-bike works, the configurations, who is works for, the business opportunity etc.... To balancing required But if you would like to wow us with your skills, your more than welcome! Mark
  4. Hi Lynda, They are trying to find a spot on a public day too, but a bit busy. I will share the presentation with you afterwards. Thanks Mark
  5. Hi All: I hope your well. Just for any trade out there who maybe interested, I have been asked to give a 30 minute presentation on electric bikes in the UK at the Cycle Show. This will be on the 29th September between 14:00 - 14:30 Many thanks Mark
  6. BTW- still need that trip to the Boom Boom club!!! Maybe we can have a Pedelec night out?!
  7. Of course, I know that HAHA! Brilliant!
  8. Hi Lemmy, Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the design and engineering done in the UK. But our head designer, Norbert Haller, who is ex.Mercedes is based in Germany and we built the team around him. I know the UK has the skill base for a lot of products, I have friends who have designed and built this in the UK: 3 wheel trike low carbon vehicle EcoSpinLtd Home Page and other good friends who have built this: German Auto Spares/ Turner Race Developments Electric VW Polo | www.eco-rally.org. So it is possible..... However we have been through a couple of Technical Assistants in our UK operation, who as you say would just not turn up! Our current Technical Assistant is more mature and seems to be able to get up in the morning! Mark
  9. Hi Jerry Lets just say we have designed a very neat little motor that is easily retrofittable.... Thanks Mark
  10. Hi Roger, I'll have a word with our web team to put the full spec on the site. It is a very well packaged battery box and is 24V rather than 36v. Your always welcome to try one with our 'Try Before You Buy' scheme. All the best Mark
  11. Hi Roger, Its no secret, it says it on the battery too! 9ah Li-ion Panasonic cells. Range of 25 miles is realistic when using pedal assist on standard power. I test them all myself. I'm sure our users will confirm this. Thanks Mark
  12. We have been working with Brompton on this project and will be providing all the kit. However, I am unable to give specific information. What I can say though is that is will be a very special bike!
  13. Hi Lemmy, No problems. We are a UK company that develop our own technology- however our design and engineering team are based in Germany.....! Mark
  14. Great to hear you are happy! We have sold so many of the Edge this year.
  15. I've only just agreed the purchase and haven't collected yet. From spec it has a speed of 70mph and range of 40-70 miles. So quite useable. I'll let you know more and put up pics once I have it
  16. Does anyone own an electric Peugeot Partner van here?
  17. I wish I had a beach to ride along!!! Sounds bliss (aside from the headwind!!)
  18. Its relatively flat here, going from Gloucester to Cheltenham. Haven't been on my mountain bike for over a year, nor seen a gym in a while- so surprised myself! Ha, your wearing padded shorts too then!!! I'm going to keep at it for a while, but we have no showers- so if we have an external meeting it will have to be electric and I'll probably take a Metro. Your ride, the thought is always daunting but the experience isn't- funny that!
  19. Wow- sounds like you have been pushing yourself hard!!! Theres some saying about woman abeing attracted to the smell of sweaty men...you never know?! But that could be counteracted by the Lycra(!) I did 15mph average over 13 miles today, which wasn't too bad. Trying to get my Stingray Chopper conversion finished so I can use that!
  20. Just cycled the 13 miles into work on my mountain bike, I must be mad! You suddenly realise how much e-bikes help you out on hills and against headwinds. I also turned up considerably more sweaty than I do on the e-bike, nice!
  21. Hi John, Would be good to see you again. Glad you enjoyed your ride We were constantly overwhelmed(!) All the best Mark
  22. Great! Come and say hello!
