  1. With apologies to those hoping to read about Toseven, here's a French firm 'improving' the Tongsheng. https://ebiketips.road.cc/content/news/virvolt-900-a-lightweight-repairable-e-bike-conversion-kit-4473 https://ebiketips.road.cc/content/news/virvolt-e-bike-conversion-kit-attains-official-made-in-france-status-4499
  2. What does "3 Inner shifts" mean? (L7 hub motor)
  3. https://flit.bike/outlet/ Very favourable reviews from more than one site. 16" wheels (same as Brompton) are fine on-road. Ex-demo bikes may be a bit above your preferred price, but there's no harm in asking what's available.
  4. There are doors (ie full enclosure)in some of the photos, and there are trailers - but I agree it seems to need a bit more on-board cargo space. 250w motor plus pedal power should be plenty for an aerodynamic velo.
  5. There is scope here for an enterprising vendor to commission the development of a properly tested and certified battery using LiFePO4 cells, which do NOT have the same unstoppable-fire risk. It'll be a bit bigger (12 cells for true 36volt) and heavier for a given Wh capacity, and it may need a different charger - but it would not be "Lithium Ion" and *should* sail past any nervous-landlord blockades.
  6. Tell them to stop being silly and to read this https://cyclingindustry.news/uk-ebike-biz-coordinates-to-address-businesses-fire-safety-bans/ which says, inter alia, “eBikes and eBike components from reputable suppliers undergo rigorous testing to stringent quality and safety testing standards – and we aren’t aware of a single incident in the UK involving an eBike or battery from a reputable brand.” So get something brand-named and properly tested - not an anonymous kit found online.
  7. The Rutland chain of bike shops has changed hands (now Specialized) and they are clearing some old stock at sale prices. That appears to include electric Bromptons, but of course what's left is changing all the time. https://www.rutlandcycling.com/electric-bikes/onsale (I ride something else with the same narrow 16" tyres as the Brompton. Fine on road and cyclepath, but not on (eg) a woodland path where other bikes feel much better.)
  8. Sold Secure test only against 'domestic' tools, not the stronger industrial kit that professional thieves now use. However there is now a 'better than Gold' Diamond classification, which a few locks have earned - and I get the impression that they expect motorbike locks to do better than bike locks (but not necessarily to be easy to carry). Download the catalogue to see which tool types are used for testing each classification, and search here: https://www.soldsecure.com/ ART rate according to acceptability to insurers. Search here (and good luck trying to get it to remember that you want English not Dutch): https://www.stichtingart.nl/en/home-en/ With luck, you may find something that does well in both schemes.
  9. Flit 16 (yes, 16" wheels same as Brompton) is designed to roll on one wheel. https://flitbike.zohodesk.eu/portal/en/kb/articles/how-to-roll-your-flit-16-21-7-2021 I've often ridden mine 16-20km without problems.
  10. > And one last question have you considered any other affordable ebikes which suit your use case more? Look at FLIT 16 - more affordable than Brompton electric, and well-reviewed. https://flit.bike/
  11. Sunstar's documentation didn't keep pace with product development (my higher-voltage battery and LCD display didn't feature in any of the info that I had with the conversion). Nonetheless, perhaps your dead battery was one of those here? (If there's interest, I could try to find a backup copy of the whole document. Bike and docs have moved on to another owner.)
  12. That looks like a 'Voltage 1' error. If still stuck, try the people who were the importers: https://www.electricbikesales.co.uk/pages/contact/
