All looks fairly simple to connect, was it? Hope you're enjoying it!

BMSBATTERY kit
All sounds good apart from the instructions! Let us know whether BMSbattery provide you with clear English ones - I'm a good bicycle mechanic but a total novice with electrics so they'll be essential for me!

BMSBATTERY kit
Thanks guys - I'll have to ponder the 36V option. I definitely am going to go with the thumb throttle option as I'm fitting it to one of my road racing bikes and it should sit perfectly with my default riding position (plus I've got a plan for a cunning Heath Robinson addition to give the option of holding it open with the bottom of my palm). Definitely front fit as I have a nine speed Shimano Dura Ace block and derailleur on the back which I would be loathe to lose. Good point about just ordering a motor, but being a total novice I think I'll be better off with a whole kit and instructions - if the wheel's OK then great, if it's not I've only lost about £15 or so... Thanks again for all the advice, it's terrifically useful!

BMSBATTERY kit
Ah that's brilliant Flecc, thanks for putting my mind at rest! As a former very keen (non-electric) cyclist who can now only use his bike on the flat due to a blood disease (can't carry oxygen properly) I can't wait to get my bike tooled up so I can get up hills again - but I wasn't sure that my wife would share my enthusiasm if I burnt the house down! Think I'll have a whack at this kit then, seems like a good cheap way in and then I can upgrade if I get a taste for it. I'll report back here as to quality/performance (not sure when I'll have it given the current transport chaos mind!). Many thanks, Rendel

BMSBATTERY kit
Hi all, Considering trying out this kit from China: 250W/350W Q-85/100SX Motor E-Bike Kit [Kit-85-100SX] - $122.00 : BMSBATTERY!, The Art of Battery I don't want a heap of assistance so I'd be going for the 250W motor and 24V 10AH battery. Whole kit will run to around £250, or £300 if it gets nabbed for import duty. I'm resigned to the fact that the wheel will probably be a poor quality one but have a local wheelbuilder who can make me a better one - does anyone know any other reasons to be wary? Also I keep reading nightmare stories about Li-ion batteries catching fire, should I be concerned? All advice very gratefully received, Thanks, Rendel

Wisper 806 battery - urgent question!
Thanks David, Pretty sure he was kosher, he had bought a spare battery to increase range but never used it, he had a receipt and said it had been properly topped up. I've suffered enough at the hands of bike theives to make sure I never buy anything that looks a bit warm! Irrelevant now anyway as it was sold, but thanks for your trouble in replying and offer of help. Best, Rendel

Wisper 806 battery - urgent question!
Thanks for the advice guys - turns out having told me he'd wait for my decision until 5PM this evening the seller offloaded it this morning! But many thanks for your help and advice. Rendel

Wisper 806 battery - urgent question!
Hi All, Apologies for the question as I'm keen to electrify my bike but utterly ignorant as to the technical aspects: I have a chance to buy, at a very good price, a Wisper 806 26V 9AH battery. My question is, would I be able to wire this up to a DIY rigout rather than a Wisper bike? I'd probably get a Bafang 250W motor to match it if so. The seller won't hold the battery for long so if anyone could advise me today I'd be really grateful! Many thanks, Rendel

Getting the saddle height right for you
Quite agree, I expressed myself badly - what I meant by "safely" was being able to stand safely at a standstill without crushing the family jewels!

Getting the saddle height right for you
The ideal saddle height has nothing to do with frame size, whether you can touch the ground etc - you should set the saddle height to your size (as detailed in a moment) and if then you can't get at least one foot down safely at a standstill choose a smaller frame. The ideal saddle height is your inside leg (base of stockinged foot to crotch, measued straight and as accurately as you can get it) multiplied by 1.09. The resulting measurement should be the distance between the top of the saddle and the pedal when the crank is at the lowest point (i.e. 6 o'clock) of its rotation. This formula has been used for years for racers as being the most bio-mechanically efficient, and it also has the bonus that in fully extending your leg on each rotation it should help smooth out any knee or other niggles. Hope this helps!

Water bottle battery
Yes, I like the design of the "Little Frog", unfortuntely I've made enquiries and you need about 5 inches of seatpost showing between the saddle and top tube for it to fit, which I haven't. Considering that coupled to a beam rack though.

Water bottle battery
Hi all, I'm a newcomer to this electric bike business but due to illness I'm looking to electrify my road bike so that I can carry on using it. I've chosen the motor I want (Bafang 250W, I only want assistance, not full "electric moped" capability) but I'm dithering about the battery choice. For aesthetics and to keep addons to a minimum I'd ideally like to use a water bottle shaped battery like Cytronex use to fit in the bottle cage, but as far as I understand their battery only works with their whole system (I know they've got a retrofit kit coming out soon but I was told it will cost around £1000, which seems excessive). Does anyone know of any other manufacturers that make this shape of battery? I'm hoping to find one that's either Li-ion or LiFePo4, 250W and around 12AH. Any tips would be very much appreciated!
