Brompton Toolkit
like them both Jerry, like the way you've got everything so tidy, control box is out of sight, and to most people they would just think you had a front dynamo hub fitted, any chance of you getting some photos on the gallery some time? Or have you got any videos on youtube?

Brompton Toolkit
Hi Jerry, good point about if a motor is fitted, my brompton is non assisted, I have a Wisper bike for when I want some power, I guess for e brompton's unless your a gadget geek like me the best thing is to save yourself a packet and put a good set of tools in with the battery in the front luggage carrier. By the way Jerry think your Brompton looks fantastic. Bri

Brompton Toolkit
New Brompton toolkit now available, having watched it on youtube, I ordered it promptly only available from a few places at the moment, my one arrived today, purchased it from pedals cycle centre, I'm sure many people will think it's bonkers spending £48 on a set of tools you could put together yourself for a few quid, but having received it and played about with it I'm luving it, just the way it locks inside the frame so solidly no chance of rattling or dropping out all very high quality and so it should be, but it really is a little design master piece, the way all the tools connect together into such a little package. Costly yes, but for me personally I often just like to hop on the bike as it is, in normal dress, without bags attached etc, and my pockets are always full with phones keys wallets etc. so it’s a bonus not having to have them full with multi tools now and I'll never forget my tools again because there neatly stored in the bike now.

[Thieves prevention] Spray the bike?
hi cwah, is there no way you take your Brommy with you? I find I can take my one anywhere, sometimes its worth putting a cover on it so it looks purely looks like luggage(not a bike). It may also be worth finding out if there are any lockers in the area at train/bus stations etc. my one fits in a small locker easily although it's not an electric one. It seems such a shame to spoil your lovely Brompton because of scum bags, they should be shot!

They (not me!) fell off my bike
hi Don what is the diameter of the cap? At first glance it looked like a front axle Nut Cover, but looking twice I think it looks too small. Bri

Folding electric - Wisper 806 or Brompton?
Hi Cakey, it's a small rucksack rain cover around the battery, with a thin elastic cord wrapped around it to stop it ballooning up when riding.

Folding electric - Wisper 806 or Brompton?
My Wisper 806 Alpino is a very powerful bike it pulls fantastically up hills, it's great to be able to go on a ride and know that if I had any problems I could just call a taxi and pop it in the boot or hop on a bus. If I ever fancy exploring further afield from home I can just pop it in my car boot and travel. That all said, I'm a Brompton owner(non electric), the Wisper in my opinion is only an occasional folder due to its fold, size and weight, it's locking mechanism is extremely solid though with no play when riding it, and I personally would never go back to a full sized ebike after my Wisper 806 it’s a great bit of kit. As for the Brompton, I've owned many folding bikes most 20" wheels but the Brompton is the only one I'd consider using for a daily train commute its much talked about fold really is the best, easy, fast, safe/secure and very compact. Of the many types of bikes I’ve owned all shapes and sizes if I only had to own one bike it would be my Brompton.

Best Folding E Bike
I'm more than happy with my Wisper 806 Alpino, high spec, very powerful flys up hills probably better than my 905 se sports did, Shimano Alfine 8 hub gears are top, the fold isn't the best in the world but I'm used to a brompton, can't wait for their electric bike to come out but don't think it's for a good while yet and expect it will be very expensive.

Which folding bike?
One of my folders is the Dahon D7 speed if you don't want to pay Brompton money, you wont go too far wrong with the Dahon, I've got schwalbe marathon plus tyres on my one and it get used like any full size bike, it's a surprizingly fast bike too, I wouldn't go for anything for less money than this though as alot of cheap folders really do suck and are no fun at all!

Which folding bike?
Hi squimlet, I'm a folding bike fan, I've got a few and think there great, my dahon is excellent, I've got a wisper 806 alpino on the way soon, but I have to say although a brompton may seem expensive at first, they really are top worth every penny, save up for a brompton, honest there great!

Powabike rear wheel replace
Hi, I’m sure you’ll get some advice on here, but if not I notice you’re from Leicester, you probably already know but there is a Powabyke dealer which also does repairs in Leicester don’t what they are like but they might offer some advice, just google Grand Prix Scooter Leicester for details, hope you get sorted soon mate

i'm seeing loads of electric bikes now!
In Leicester spotted: Izip Downtown quite a few powabykes Euros izip stepthrough a pair of giants in nearby loughborough a homemade assisted Recumbent bike I think you'd call it, the owner was using his hands to power this not peddling with his feet I wish I'd have asked if I could have taken a picture of this, hopefully see the chap in Watermead park again. Most of the time I spot pedelecs when I'm in the car though so don't get a chance to have a chat.

Lottery Winner’s E bike?
Now found something called the E rocket! YouTube is amazing, can’t believe I haven’t done an e bike search on it before! There’s some weird and wonderful stuff out there!! Well worth spending a few hours browsing, although it is a bit addictive!

Love the Brompton Jerrysimon, very smart, the ultimate folding bike, I believe Brompton are going to be bringing out their own ebike possibly later this year!

Hire bikes in the Peak District.
I watched it too, a long report must be good for electric bikes, a lot of people don't realise they exist or have images of ungainly electric bikes of years gone by not the stylish ones of today

Is it Torque not Speed what we are really looking for?
I’ve got to completely agree with you PJM, surely torque has got to be the way forward, personally I find my Wisper deals with most hills a dream but the more torque the better, I’m more than happy with the 15.5 mph limit, I think as time goes by pedelecs will get lighter due to battery technology etc. So I think pedelecs will become capable of ever faster speeds, if the rider wants to put in the effort, but with the road conditions in the UK 15.5 mph suits me most of the time.

Can I buy a flip saddle?
Thanks David If these are not recommended by you, it’s looking now I might give the idea a miss, I don’t know what the mechanism would be like on the eZee flip saddle, but Flecc, mentioned about the many variations in Stem sizes, which has gave me food for thought assuming I can’t use my existing stem with a flip saddle I don’t think I’d like to use a different stem, I would think the stem would have to be exactly the same or else I could be doing far more harm than good!

Can I buy a flip saddle?
Thanks for that Aldby a very kind offer, my Wispers my pride and joy though, so only the best will do for her thanks again though

Can I buy a flip saddle?
Thanks for that Straylight

Can I buy a flip saddle?
Hi flecc Cheers, so they do exist then! Your right though that is heavy! Just though it would be a really useful bit of kit, I expect the mechanism would have to be well designed for safety reasons too.

Can I buy a flip saddle?
Hi Mussels I have a late 2010 model so this should be new design, so should be ok, but I'd just like to be extra safe.

Can I buy a flip saddle?
Hi I’ve got a Wisper 905se, I like to always remove the battery when charging it, I have to remove the seat post with saddle to do this, which is no real effort but I’m worried over a period of time this will weaken the aluminium frame through the constant clamping and unclamping action of the quick release and I don’t want the hassle of having to deal with that! I just wondered if anyone knew of a saddle that I could just flip up and remove the battery that way, and save any future problems.
