BH eMotion Neo Cross Status AND Pros and Cons of Local Dealership
I've done another 300 miles and the bike is outstanding. Currently doing 40+ mile trips and plenty of power left. It's an absolute joy. Out Friday and can't wait.

BH eMotion Neo Cross Status AND Pros and Cons of Local Dealership
In May last year, I posted the following paragraph to which the consensus was 'Battery Failure'. I've had my BH Emotion Neo Cross for 2 years now and it's proved to be a brilliant bike. However, recently I've had problems with the Display shutting off when going up steeper climbs. It happens w/o warning. I stop, switch it back on and a few metres later it does the same. The connections on the display are fine. Any ideas? It's been a heck of a long time since then but I'll fill you in on the details and resolution. When I came to buy my eBike, buying local was important to me for servicing/tweaks advice etc. I also wanted a 2 year guarantee on the battery. With help from GaRRy and various test runs the Neo Cross was my choice and I bought it from a local (12 miles) bike shop. For nearly 2 years it was brilliant, until the battery problem as indicated above. The shop tried various ideas but couldn't solve the problem and so they contacted eMotion in Spain. I won't bore you with all the details but the bike has been to Stoke once and to Spain 3 times. Each time until the last something was done to the bike in an attempt to solve the problem. If eMotion are to be believed I have had a new hub motor. I know from the shop that the bike has had a new sensor; new wiring and a new controller as well as a spare display. Naturally each time the bike went on holiday I had to ride it to the shop and pick it up again - being local was essential for this. Finally a couple of weeks ago the bike returned from Spain with a new battery! On the first test ride it sailed up the minor hills it had failed on before but I knew I had to test the bike on something much more substantial. On a fine day this week I did a 31 mile run including climbing the Horseshoe Pass on Eco. The bike was fine but I was a bit knackered. Several morals to the story I'll leave you to pick them out for yourself. As for me - I am soooooo looking forward to having a problem free cycling future. Fingers crossed, touch wood etc.

Total loss of power on steeper climbs
I wondered about the 'connections' myself. I'll go for another similar run ASAP and see what's what.

Total loss of power on steeper climbs
Went out today for 24 miles. Covered one of the same hills as before and one different at 16%. No problems at all today... puzzling.

Total loss of power on steeper climbs
Gosh. Not considered that at all. I'm going out for a ride tomorrow to see if it does the same again. Scary.

Neo Cross Review After 2000km
Here's my 'review' of the BH Emotion Neo Cross; the bike seller and service provided after 2000km. The bike is exactly as it was after 1000km. (see link to review below). I can't add or change anything to that review - the bike is a dream and I love it. Taff Neo Cross Review After 1000km

BH Neo Cross Electric bike Setting
I use mine on the Eco setting. Yesterday I did 40 miles including putting it on max for the last few. Still had 1 to 2 bars left.

Aldi GPS Watch
First of all it's inexpensive and comes with 3 year warranty. Secondly it includes a bike mount and a HRM chest strap. Thirdly it can import and export routes. I used it on my Holme Moss hike and it tracked my hike and I downloaded it to computer for analysis - Google Map track; HR and distance; speed.

Aldi GPS Watch
If anyone's interested I just bought the Aldi watch and it's great.

Did anyone go out to watch the Tour de France
Holme's Moss What a fantastic day yesterday was. I decided to go during the night as I hate motorway driving - what a good decision it was. Google maps said 1hr 32mins for the 72 miles, it was 5 minutes longer than that and another 5 longer on the return journey. Arrived and had some breakfast - butty and coffee. Then set off hiking and geocaching. Got back to the car and had a few minutes before carrying on. Everywhere was fairly quiet. Headed for Black Hill and surrounding bumps. I met loads of people as the day went on, quite a lot in sandals (this is 500 to 600 metres up) and town type gear most had no idea where they were going. Loads followed me but I was hill bagging so I pointed them in the right distance. Bagged what I wanted including geocaches then headed for the road. Had dinner and dossed around until the caravan came and went. I decided to drop down the hill as the crowds were enormous at the summit. The noise was terrific and the support for the caravan and cyclists was outstanding. When some tail enders came in the sympathy expressed by the crowd gave vent to the loudest cheering of all. It was quite emotional. I took pictures and movies but I probably had my fingers over the microphone - ish, Doh. There were people from all over the country: from Cornwall to Rhyl, from Edinburgh to Kent. I've never seen so many bikes in my life. When it was time to go, I climbed back up to the moorland and looked down - the entire road was filled from the hill top to way past the village below. As I made my way in the general direction of the path, there were streams of people snaking along all over; here and there these streams joined together until eventually there was a torrent of people making their way along the Pennine Way. What was quiet when I'd started out in the morning was now wall to wall with cars as far as the eye could see. Chatted to a member of the Weaver Vale Cycling Club amongst others. Had 10 minutes at the car to let some of the cars disperse then set off home. Super return journey. All in all a fantastic day. Be Careful Out there...
I was younger then and foolish. Now I'm older with a pork cracking knee and just as foolish.

Be Careful Out there...
Yes- normally these things itch like hell but touch wood no temptation. Of course you might have meant put salt on it and pick...

Be Careful Out there...
I did start a 'Hike and Bike' blog some years ago but I struggled with time. I do put my photos on Panoramio.com.

How fast do you go downhills
How fast do you go downhills? A lot slower in future.

Be Careful Out there...
Well my knee is giving me gip but I hope it'll not last as long as that.

Be Careful Out there...
Once the site was changed and the blogs disappeared I lost heart with posting.

Be Careful Out there...
Well I've been a heck of a lot faster than 36mph without mishap. Maybe there was a damp patch or maybe the tyre was slippy from crossing the ford. Bit of a bugger.

Be Careful Out there...
Back and shoulder are a lot better but my knee is very sore. I've prescribed myself some wine. Bike seems good. The seat had gone askew as well as the handlebars but I've straightened them. I think or rather I hope I'll go slower in future.

Be Careful Out there...
Yesterday's ride turned out to be interesting to say the least. Quite nice when I set off and tootled along the canal to Llangollen. Valle Crucis Abbey Climbed steadily to top the Horseshoe at 1367 Ft. By now it was cold. Went down the old pass to the bottom of the valley and climbed up to the ford at World's End. I had my first mishap here and the bike went from under me as I crossed the ford; luckily I'd only just set off so it was about 5mph. Wet but no problemo. Climbed slowly up to the moors to 1440 Ft where it was very cold. Decided to rush down off the wind blown top to get to warmer climes. (No pun). I'd just passed Hafod Farm when the road took a right, as I turned, the bike went from under me. At this point I was doing around 35 MPH. Not good. I ended up quite a way from the bike and quite a way from the road. As they say - it all happened in slow motion. I was really lucky. The road is so narrow I only had a little tarmac to scrape along before going over the edge. So, I've a little road rash and a painful back, shoulder, arm and thigh. Let's hope it doesn't develop into anything worse. So do be careful out there.
