  2. I stop the squeaking with a thin layer of Copperslip on the back of the disc brake pad.
  3. Hi Chainring, Try putting a piece of red electricity tape over the light when the green changes to red you will not be able to see any light. regards Bill
  4. Hi KirstinS I purchased one of these kits two years ago and though I didn't keep it long I know it is still going okay because I gave the kit to my sister after purchasing a Tonaro. I know this is only one other persons use but I thinks it is probably worth knowing other peoples kits are still working okay after a couple of years. Bill
  5. Hi Mike, The drive system on the Tonaro bikes was "upgraded" to make the crank assembly easier to access. The previous version, as on your bike, required special tools to remove the one way bearing at the back of the assembly. The new version used a splined bearing which could be held in place by a simple circlip. The new version 2 was a push fit into the aluminium housing and held by a single woodruff key. This meant there was a considerable loading at that one point of the bearing. A v3 bearing with two keyways has now been made to spread the loading more evenly. Anyone with an original Tonaro that is one made prior to the recent mods should be okay.
  6. Hi adifrank, with regard to the motor cutting out every now and then even when charged up try removing the magnet off the rear wheel the problem you have has been spoken about several times on this forum. In most cases taking the magnet off the rear wheel fixes the cutouts.
  7. I have a Tonaro and the best I have achieved is 68 miles with power level set to the lowest level though I did use high power on a couple of long hills.
  8. Well that's it guys the boss has spoken so stop picking on Eddie.
  9. What I would like to know is why the administators didn't get involved I have seen members banned for less.
  10. In order to get a patent you have to be able to show that the design is unique in some way I accept the company may have taken inspiration from the Yamaha crank motor but so what just look at the proliferation of different hub motors out there are they not all basically similar.
  11. Tonaro Please see quote below copied from the Tonaro site. TONARO power assisted electric bicycle is a new high-tech product independently developed and patented by China National Aero-Technology Guangzhou Company Limited. The way I read the comment is that it is new and not a straight copy of the Yamaha crank motor.
  12. Eddie I don't think you are correct in what you are saying, if memory serves me right it was the Yamaha that people were referrring to when they said it was more like a moped not the Tonaro.
  13. Hi Sarah, It may be worth including the Tonaro range of bikes they are about the same price and I have to say they are excellent hill climbers.
  14. Hi Mike not to worry just glad the Compy is going okay now, my Compy did exactly the same and as it happens the first thing I tried, taking the magnet off cured it for me so I thought it may be the same thing on Steve's bike. The symptoms sounded exactly the same.
  15. A simple thing to try, ride the bike without the magnet on the back wheel.
  16. I agree with EddieO on this I know people keep saying derailleur gears need constant adjustment but to be honest I have not found this if they are set up carefully and correctly to start with. I use an LX derailleur and the changes are light, fast and almost noiseless. I am in agreement with Flecc with regard to convenience but I used to have Sturmey Archer gears on my bikes when I was a child and they only took a short period of time before they began to slip when peddling up hills. I know they have come on a lot since but I guess it will take a lot before I trust hub gears again.
