The reactions will be the same as when the law making wearing safety belts compulsory. "Infringement on my rights (Human or otherwise)"" Some people will never wear seat belts, but may wished they had when removing their head from the windscreen. No doubt the same for cyclists when recovering from a head meeting the road surface at much lower speeds. Better education for children and them seeing their peers actually wearing a crash hat would help Rgds

Only to add that I had a similar Freego experience where the battery and charger exhibited the same faults as described above. Turned out that both the charger and battery were faulty. Both charging quite happily for an hour, but for some reason failed a little later. Obviously "Pop" went one, taking the other with it ! (Not a fuse problem with the battery, something else in the battery housing failed.) HOWEVER, cannot complain about the service, had the problem investigated by the supplier and a new charger and battery from Freego in under a week. Would seem to be a batch of duff chargers from the suppliers ? My new charger has two lights now, Power (240V) and charge condition (Red / yellow /green) Rgds

There are probably suppliers in the Brighton area, I purchased two Freego cycles from a shop in Worthing (Kardinal Mobility 82-84 Broadwater St West Worthing West Sussex BN14 9DE Tel: 01903 211931) Pleased with the purchase, and after sales service. The only useless comment I can add to theis thread ;-) I hired a electric "dutch style / ladies bike" and whenever I semi dismounted and "lent" the bike against my leg to read a map, the bike gently fell over (no crosbar below) and skinned my leg on the way down ! (Should have learnt the first time it fell over !) Dutch style does NOT get my vote ! Rgds

For WIWorth. Out of interest on our new Freego Eagle Bikes (Lion 17.5 amphr) I monitored the charge on our first few charges. My trusty Screwfix AC - 240 v ammeter showed a charge rate of 0.6 amps whilst the charge light was orange, then fell to 0.1 amps , then to zero amps whilst still orange. About an hour later, the charger light changed to green, still showing zero amps. As the charger seems to run at Zero amps whilst the charge light shows orange, then green, I would hazard a guess that leaving it on, probably would not overcharge battery. Well not to a point where, you have to look at your watch, then leave the pub to go home to unplug the charger. Rgds

Unfortunately we are dealing with the scum of the earth (NO, not the forum members ;-) But with people who quite happily steal catalytic exhausts from ambulances and copper from hospital generators. Given the slightest excuse, a nice piece of battery will sell down at the scrappys like anything else (plus a pound for the scrap value of the bike frame). Bike locks, hardened chains, Hardened wire loops, are all vulnerable to Screwfix man. Tried a Brooks many years ago and found that my undercarriage was changing faster than the Brooks. On my Freego now use a gel saddle with a suspension post, It takes out a lot of the harsh thumps and bumps that seem to occure with the heavy rear end with motor and battery. (and my undercarriage is fine) Rgds

Motorhome Me two (me and the good wife !) and got to an age where a little help is useful. Basically, Tow a car or a M/scooter or bikes. All have advantages and otherwise. Ebikes won out for Ease of use, parking and packing, No crash hats and leathers ( Falling off can hurt !) and phaffing about with licences, insurance and maintenace. Retains the fun of biking, using Bike ways, Rgds

Same thing occures with our Freego Eagles. When I first tried the bike, it seemed as if the low setting was not working at all, took it back and the supplier, could find nothing wrong, neither could I when I tried it again. ;-O It has its uses if riding in areas where low assist is to low and mid assist is too high ! Does seem strange though ? Must be some voltage drop in the system when the hrottle is in use, but not used (if that makes sense. Rgds

For the price you are paying for a Alpine Sport you could consider a Freego Eagle or Hawk. Freego run a try before youy buy scheme through their dealers. If you email the sales people on the Freego Web Site, they can tell you your nearest dealer. We (my Good Lady and I) purchased two Eagles and are impressed with them and the service we have had. There is a review on the Freego Eagle in the review section of this forum. Best of riding, whatever bike you chose. Rgds
