This sounds very similar to a problem we have faced many a time. it sounds to me like it is the square on the pedal arm has bent sligtly, so every time the pedal goes around, it moves and makes a click/creaking sound. 2 ways to fix this. either put a generous amount of locktight onto the bottom bracket axle and bolt that holds it on, or get a new set of pedal arms and put them on as tight as you can get it without using grease. We have tested the 36v 10Ah battery on the hills around us and we get around 25-30 miles on medium power pedal assist. hope that helps.
