Actually it moves slightly backward and downward when going over bumps..but there is no real perception of this movement and the seat maintains it horizontal position ... I do not think it would cause any knee problems... but I have only one ride with it so dont really know...

faith restored - purchased and fitted the Suntour NCX. As it turned the height was about the same as the rigid seatpost. Thinking there was rain on the way this afternoon headed out quite early and completed 22 miles including Box Hill twice. No problems whatsoever...Bike comfort is transformed on a softer setting. On a different subject I was having a lot of trouble with the gear indexing. Threw out the Sram and fitted a Shimano 9 speed shifter. Now gear changes are like silk....

I think you meant reach the pedal with the ball of the foot only....but thanks to all for your help - I am going to have a rethink about saddles height etc...

thank you for all the suggestions....I did try the big bum seat off the Forza but probably did not ride long enough to fully test. Looked at the thud buster quite expensive....any thoughts on suspension seatposts ?

Could my bike a size too large be the cause of my back problems....twice now after riding my Boardman TXC 29r Ezee conversion I have experienced severe lower (right) back pain. It seems that an age old problem is resurfacing...so I am now quite scared to go for a ride. I don't really know what the actual size of the frame is but with the seat fully down I can barely touch the ground No problems when riding the old Forza. If I cannot sort this out then the bike is available for sale. I paid John £950 and will accept £900.
  7. A normal days cycling in Canada....you just have to grin and bear it....
  8. Thanks Neil I am planning to do a few more mixes on Logic Pro including 'Streets'. Also attend open mike nights in Byfleet. No I am not a professional singer...just a hobby...cut back on my flying...but to stay current fly a Jabiru UL at Damyns Hall on an NPPL. Your are welcome to come fly one day. Still got my Forza now completely rewired and with dual battery...just could not get a Sine wave controller to work on the Ezee motor so bought a rewire kit from John. Also bought his Ezee powered Boardman Pro...what a fantastic bike...got to meet up again one day...
  9. Honest opinions please.....
  10. I followed your advice years ago Flecc and have a mirror on all my bikes...because the cyclist is a bit further to left then the following car driver a quick nod to the right and the cessation of pedalling by the cyclist gives a good indication that you have seen them...I use a quick thumbs up as a 'good to go pass' signal...often receive a quick pip on the horn...goodwill both ways...
  11. I did little investigating into the company trading as Pedalease. The website shows the office in a storage warehouse Pedalease Ltd Unit 1001 Shurguard House Westmount Centre Hayes UB4 0HD Walton on Thames . Trading as Pedaling-made-easy on Ebay the contact is in a private house A6 Ashford Ave Hayes Middlesex UB40LY and also as Drifttronics with and address in Walton-on-Thames The pictures in the Drifttronics Ebay listing are identical to those in the Pedalease website. You cannot contact them, they do not reply to emails. I am fairly certain I purchased a second hand non sensor 700C kit from them trading as Mateen many years ago to fit on a claud Butler hybrid. The bearing was shot and the controller constantly overheated and finally blew up. Make what you will of it..... http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/m8FEgfG7TqTK6y9faxByUAw.jpg
  12. sold it yet... Can I grab your number my email is kl47131@gmail.com Thanks
  13. Soon we will have to seriously think about burning fossil fuel to power a jet engine so we can go and sit on a beach in Malaga or some other dreadful place, believing that we have the right to do so.....same as we should think carefully about driving our diesel powered 4X4 to drop our children off at school and polluting the cities with trillions of fine carbon paritculate....
  14. The near future for electric powered flying machines will be drones transporting people within airport boundaries or maybe between skyscraper rooftops. There is a trail going on in Dubai with the Ehang... https://www.dezeen.com/2016/01/07/ehang-184-worlds-first-automated-passenger-drone-ces-2016/?li_source=LI&li_medium=bottom_block_1 Recently to commemorate Bleriots first crossing of the channel an electric powered aircraft made the same crossing. It takes huge amount of energy to lift the aircraft off the ground but once at altitude electric motors maintain their efficiency. Also see NASA X-57 https://www.dezeen.com/2016/07/11/nasa-x-57-maxwell-electric-aircraft-fuel-efficient-reduced-flight-times-noise-carbon-emissions/ This type of aircraft, I believe, will be the future of short to medium range flying transport. The jet engine for commercial aircraft is probably on the downward slope of obsolescence...
  15. Deviating slightly from the most boring subject of Br..it ......... Happy to announce that my sons band 'The Island Club' has passed the Spotify million download mark. If this announcement breaks forum site rules I apologise.....
  16. Elaine says someone uplifted the old controller - if available from that person my email is kl47131@gmail.com - thanks again...
  17. Only just spotted this - is it still available ? - if someone has picked it up are you actually going to use it - my 2009 Forza controller is dead and I am looking for a replacement.....many thanks...
  18. Considering that the only thing you have done is fit a new battery and that there is an 'Intelligent Controller' fitted I am still guessing that somehow the controller has unlearnt the Hall sensor commands. Maybe the wheel was moved a little when the battery was disconnected. Somewhere in the vast wealth of information on ES someone suggested unplugging the 5 hall wires and trying to run the wheel sensorless (you might have to spin it first). Then battery off reconnect the Hall wire plug and voila it worked again...
  19. This may work - after you spin the wheel by rotating the wheel backward, stop the rotation, disconnect the battery for 10 seconds or so and plug in again. It could be that the controller has to relearn the hall positions...
  20. This is a 2011 front drive model bought 2nd hand with a dead battery. Fitted a fish style phylion battery - it has performed very well for the past 3 years. This bike I rode with NealH and Chris Comber a year or so ago at Box Hill. Anyway problem at first appears to be a dying battery - battery fully charged but after only a few miles it dips into the red zone then the bikes stops. Self diagnostics flashes 6 times which is a battery low voltage warning. Measuring the battery voltage with a multimeter on the second battery connector the voltage, pre controller, shows a healthy 40.8volts but the led is still in the red zone....exactly the same with a brand new battery. If the Hall wire plug to the motor is disconnected led jumps straight back to the green zone. Have checked all connectors for water ingress, dismantled controller, checked for water, cleaned all connectors with IPA...etc...still same problem. Cyclezee reckons its a controller problem- but could it be something else? Thanks for your help lee-wave
  21. Sorry about that Neal - I must have looked at the June calender - the 25th being a Sat...early signs of dementia....coincidently today my main battery has just died. I will probably bite the bullet and get a 19 amp from cyclezee..
  22. Sorry guys I got this all wrong - I still work full time so cannot do a Monday- can we postpone to some weekend in August. I would use the opportunity to catch up with my son who lives there - his band is The Island Club, check it out they are pretty good... Keith
  23. I was thinking maybe Madeira Drive then go east along the undercliff walk - are cycles permitted there ? - stop somewhere for a refreshment. This idea is a follow on from a meet I had with NealH and Chris Comber near Box Hill some years ago - it was very pleasant afternoon.......
  24. anyone interested in an Ebike meet up in Brighton July 25th - lee-wave.....
  25. Sounds like a great future 'summer' meet up - often I go down to Brighton to catch up with my son - his band is 'The Island Club' plug plug... and cycle along the coast both east and west from Brighton. I love it....
