Bosch charger repair
My MacBook Pro is 11 years old and is still in daily use. Any Windows laptop bought that long ago will have long since conked out or self-clogged to the point of being useless. My iPod Classic is also a good few years old and is still going strong. It did need a new battery - about forty quid from an online fitting service - worth doing because very few new mp3 players have the capacity I need.

Tern gsd s00 review
Good to hear a Thudbuster is working for you. As I said, it didn't seem to do a lot for me, but I might change that view after a couple of long rides using the dropper. Luckily for you, your bike is designed to take a standard seat post inside the longer post that goes into the frame. My AVE MH7 is a similar compact frame 20" wheel Bosch ebike, but it has one long seat post, so no chance of putting another type in its place.

Tern gsd s00 review
I've recently changed from a Thudbuster to a hydraulic dropper post to aid getting on and off the Riese and Muller bike in my avatar. Seems to me the Thudbuster didn't do a lot, although I didn't ride the bike with a rigid post to compare. Too early to tell if I will miss it. I could be persuaded to sell it, and I reckon with the shim it would fit your Tern bike. That could be checked, but at the moment the post is in my local bike shop on the off chance they find a customer for it. I have the three supplied chocs. The hardest one is fitted, so it would be worth trying one of the softer ones to see if that made the suspension more effective.

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case
My post is not incorrect - my summary of the Charlie Alliston case is spot on. You cited Alliston who killed someone, now you are on about a fish and chippy careless driving. Stop shifting the goal posts.

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case
Depends on the charge. Charlie Alliston, the fixie rider who killed a pedestrian, was charged with manslaughter, so he could have got anything up to a life sentence. The jury acquitted him of that, but convicted him of dangerous cycling, which carries two years. Thus it is incorrect to say the punishment is automatically less for riding a bike than a moped.

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case
His bike is considered a mechanically propelled vehicle, because that's all it needs to be. As he killed someone, it was always going to be one of the death by charges. If he killed someone on a legal ebike it would still have been death by careless - if charged. You might think someone trundling along on a legal ebike at 12mph has a good defence to the allegation of careless, even if they killed someone. It's still not guilty because both limbs of the charge must be proved. We no longer expect motorised vehicles to be preceded by a man with a red flag. In other words, the law accepts that you will be going too fast, but still driving with appropriate care, to stop on a sixpence if someone steps out in front of your vehicle. The charging judgment in this case is he was driving carelessly because he was going too fast for the conditions.

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case
The only determination is that he drove a 'mechanically propelled vehicle'. For this purpose mechanically propelled includes an electric motor, as it would for an electric or hybrid car. The legality of the vehicle is irrelevant for the purpose of proving death by careless. Here's the wording of the charge: "You drove a mechanically propelled vehicle in circumstances that were careless, and that driving caused the death of...." Thus there is only two things to be proved, he caused the death by his careless driving, and he was driving a mechanically propelled vehicle.

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case
He is charged with death by careless driving. As Grahame says, all the prosecution has to prove is he caused the death and his driving was careless, defined as a momentary lapse of attention, or riding below the standard of a careful and competent rider. For the purpose of this court case, the legality or otherwise of the ebike is largely irrelevant. His alleged high speed is relevant because that goes to prove careless.

I need some advice about replacing an Impulse 2 mid-motor
Is the current motor repairable? This company has a good general reputation and mention Impulse2 on their website. Worth a try before dropping eight hundred quid on a new one. https://www.performancelinebearings.com/

If the bike is in otherwise good condition it may be worth repairing the motor. https://www.performancelinebearings.com/

Electric bike on cycle to work scheme
The £1,000 bike would be a factory bike, but you would have to carry a spare battery. In a way that's better because lugging that enormous pack around is pointless if you are only doing a few miles. Only take the spare when you need it for longer rides.

Electric bike on cycle to work scheme
Close to £2,500 is a lot for a Chinese hub ebike with a big battery. You could buy a £1,000 ebike and a spare battery for about £1,400.

Introducing the new Woosh Rambla
I'm not recommending or liking anything, merely pointing out a more valid comparison using same retailer.

Introducing the new Woosh Rambla
A closer comparison would be a Bafang mid drive step through. This one is 1,600 euro compared to £1,300 for the woosh bike. Still a bit dearer, but it's a bit lighter and has slightly nicer finishing kit. https://greatebike.eu/e-bike-crussis-e-country-7-5-2020

Looking for a light weight e bike. Currently have free go hawk
One of the low power assist lighter ebikes such as the Gain might work for the way home. But I suggest you try one first to make sure it has enough grunt for the way in. Your other option is a Bosch bike, which has better engineered control software and a more of a push bike feel than the Chinese hub bikes. Sport setting on the way in for a decent amount of assist, and eco on the way back for a very limited amount of assist but still not 'difficult to pedal'. Once again, give one a try first. As a now experienced ebiker, it shouldn't take you long to decide which bike will work best for you.

Advice sought for new eBike
A 2019 Bosch crank drive bike - one with the small front ring - can be derestricted by means of a dongle. The 2020 bikes supposedly have anti-dongle software, but that may not matter because most of those will be outside your budget. This hybrid from Tredz would do the job. It has the smaller 400wh battery, which is why it's relatively cheap. You ought to get a 20 mile round trip out of it, even at speed. There may be others on the site which would suit. https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Lapierre-Overvolt-Explorer-600-400Wh-2019-Electric-Hybrid-Bike_212027.htm

Riese and Müller Delite GT Nuvinci
Takes a standard bottle cage. Quite handy, because one of the problems with this design of ebike is there's nowhere to carry a drink.
-
Riese and Müller Delite GT Nuvinci
The only other Delite I can recall seeing didn't have second battery configuration, but that may have been an earlier one. Your bike also has the bottle cage mounting plate near the head tube, which was also an option at one time.
-
Riese and Müller Delite GT Nuvinci
It's got the second battery tray under the cross bar so would have had a second battery somewhere along the line. The tray also includes the wiring and software which quite cleverly sips from each battery in turn when two are installed. It also charges in the same way.

Buyers will be interested in the mileage and whether you are including the second battery.

Introducing the new Woosh Rambla
Do you get a free anti-coronavirus antiseptic wipe with every bike? Only kidding, I believe the virus can only live for a couple of days on a surface.

I agree you are right to be suspicious of ebay and particularly Paypal. You've nothing to lose, other than a bit of time, by trying it on here. Small audience, but expensive bikes have been sold on here in the past.

Woosh/Radpower/Cyclotricity?
You may not be bothered, but you are putting yourself on offer if you barrel along on an illegal ebike at roughly the same times and places each day. It's less likely you will get into bother on leisure rides done at 'random' times and places. Not that I can recommend you break the law anyway, but doing it routinely and regularly is pretty stupid.

Fat Bike Wheel
I wonder if it would be possible to lace a 36 hole hub to a 32 hole rim, leaving four holes in the hub without a spoke. The spoke pattern might look odd, but my initial thought is it could be made to work.

Confused new member
No point in turning the battery off above 15.5mph because the motor is switched off anyway. Some ebikes have more pedalling resistance above cut off than others. All are heavy in comparison to a pushbike, which is not such a problem on the level, but is going up hill.
