  1. Not had my two pennies worth for a while - but the helmet issue has always caught my attention - I guess i don't wear one for comfort and vanity reasons - and to be honest - I'd' have had bought a 125 cc bike for commuting rather then my easyglider if helmets were compulsory on ebikes. Being a glasses wearer - I hated squeezing them in after putting on a full face hemet when I had motorcycles. But more importantly - I've always subscribed to the theory that instead of seat belts - cars should have a sharp 6 inch spike sticking out from the centre of the steering wheel.
  2. Hi, Dark nights are coming - I want to supplement the front light on my gazelle easyglider. Currently considering a Cyclepro 2.4w dual spot halogen light (rechargeable headlight) on offer at argos for just over £20. Any other suggestions? - words of advise? ps Hi to Davidw - who I ran in to - not literally! in york on Sunday. Steve H
  3. Hi Haku I tracked down an annoying rattle on my bike using a large blob of blu-tak -easy and worked a treat! Steve H.
  4. Hi It's big, heavy and expensive but my gazelle easyglider gets me to work and back over the route shown below quite happily. It's a solid bike that came with all the bells and whistles and hasn't let me down in the first few months I often feel like it should go faster on the flat (I'm often above the assisted speed on the flat) - but then on the very steepest bits when i'm down in second or third I'm still able to pedal quite comfortably - and fit I aint! not yet anyway! http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/attachments/electric-bicycles/256d1208988039-panasonic-system-power-delivery-explanation-route-work.jpg Steve H
  5. Hi David Sorry to hear about your puncture. I got one in my rear wheel 2 weeks ago. A local bike shop wouldn't attempt it so I took it back to the shop in York. (only 4 hours late for work that day! ) They were very helpful and only charged £3.25 for a new inner tube. A problem I had with the chain rattling in the chain box was also remidied at the same time. Steve H.
  6. Hi All, Can anyone give me some advise re adjusting roller brakes - ie what exactly should I be doing? I took my new gazelle easyglider back to the dealer for its 1st check up and they give it back to me with the front brake "tightened up" - but when i rode it for the first time after i got it back there was a new clattering noise - which I have tracked down to a "lever type thing" down at the bottom of the business end of the brake. (using blue tack!) (see file 1) - when the brake isn't applied it is now loose and clatters when the bike goes over rough ground. I may take it back but its a 70 mile round trip - and i guess i ought to make an effort to learn how to do it myself - i have consulted the handbook but it just says "adjust the brake" for instructions! There's also an "adjuster looking thing" half way up the front fork - see file 2 and a black "twirly knob" on the handlebar brake lever - see file 3 Finally can anyone tell me the "proper name" for the kind of tyre valve my bike has? (see file 4) and does anyone know if adapters area available to be able to use normal car inflaters? Any help (transalations!) would be very much appreciated Steve.
  7. Hi Mary Hi Mary have a look here Gazelle - United Kingdom I'm just 1 month into Easy Glider ownership if you've got any specific questions? Steve
  8. Hi Mandy Commiserations, Got pretty soaked myself on Tuesday - my commute is 8 miles each way - but my philosophy is just to wear the minimum - light waterproof jacket and shorts - and have an change of clothes waiting at work. I'm a pretty fussy glasses wearer too - but again - I rinse them off when I get to work and clean them with a special piece of soft cotton that I keep at work! any guesses ! Steve.
  9. Hi Musicbooks, I'm having the same issues at the moment, having just started commuting to work on my new bike. Last week I arrived at work dripping - wearing a cotton polo shirt under a "breathable" cycling jacket that the bike shop sold me with my bke. However i went for a ten mile ride yesterday wearing a polyester polo shirt with much better results! I'll be sticking to polyester from now on. Steve.
  10. Hi Footie Have you tried the sanoodi website? it easily creates "elevation" graphs showing just how steep routes are. Steve
  11. Thanks for the link to sanoodi Flecc - that's just what I was looking for - This is the graph for my route to work!
  12. Thanks for that Flecc - something to think about as I pedal Home tonight! A quick question? - on the Agatu review you included some graphs showing gradients covered - is there an easy way to produce these or was it a case of an OS map and a pencil?
  13. Hi GCI Hi GCI, Nice to see your arrival. I collected a brand new Gazelle Easyglider from York last Sunday and have been using it daily this week. I'm still formulating a variety of questions and observations that I'll post on the forum at some point. If anyone has any specific questions to ask about this bike though, I'd be more than happy to share my experience (albeit very brief!) so far. Steve.
  14. Thanks Flecc - Hadn't realised that I'd got such close company!
  15. Did it! Well the test ride swung it and I've now got a brand new Gazelle Easyglider in my front porch. Had to transport it back via two trains and then a fairly painfull 1st ride up several hills from the train station. There's no doubt that it's a heavy (not so little) so'n'so but it got me up the hills without having to get off and push - which is what I would have been doing on my old push bike. I suspect I may be pestering the forum with questions for a while once my fitness regime gets into full swing - My initial target is to use my new bike to travell to work at least 3 times a week - clement weather permitting - We'll See!!!
