  1. Seems like a reasonable explanation. As long as everything is working ok then there is nothing to worry about. Good to know.
  2. That looks highly suspicious to me Dominic. I just had a look on my bike and can't see anything that looks like the wire on yours. Check to see if all the functions are working. Even if everything seems ok I think you should query it with the supplier.
  3. It's been a long time since I saw a policeman around here. Do they still wear those big tall cone hats?
  4. Many years ago when my children were little my wife came down stairs to find an intruder in the kitchen. I was woken by her screaming and ran down the stairs. The intruder had run out of the house by now, I ran outside but could not see anyone. As you can imagine my wife was in a state of shock (physically sick) and my three children sat at the top of the stairs crying. That same day I went and bought a pick axe handle and it is still beside my bed 30 years later. Paranoid, maybe, but I'm ready for the next bXXXXXd.
  5. I also live in a rural area which although very pleasant makes you very vulnerable (as you will know). There is only one person responsible for your safety and you see him/her in the mirror every morning.
  6. I have four surveillance cameras on my property. What does that say about me?
  7. Make that 31 now.
  8. Because I have a dodgy hip I have to do as fleck says, stand on the left of the bike and lower it down quite a lot before I can lift my leg over without to much pain. Once I'm on it's ok. Same procedure to dismount. Couldn't do this with my Ducati so have stopped riding it.
  9. I can't even remember what "the original method of learning to ride" was like:)
  10. I'm not sure how water resistant the display is, there is some information available at manuals.derby-cycle.com/manuals/focus/en_focus_2013_20140131_05.pdf but I couldn't find anything about riding in heavy rain. I personally would not be riding (intentionally) in a downpour but if you are worried about the display maybe you could improvise with some clear plastic and tape. Not pretty but I'm sure it would do the job.
  11. No problem, it took me a while to find out what does what on this bike. I have to say for a bike costing this much you would expect a proper manual. If there is anything else I can help with please don't hesitate to ask.
  12. I should have actually said trip distance, as you have yours set on kms. I too have recently bought a focus thron impulse.
  13. The picture of the LCD you have shown is displaying tr for trip mileage.
  14. It looks to me that there is a great opportunity for a manufacturer to make a better quality (more effective) helmet for cyclists.
  15. LL17 please.
  16. I thought it was presented in a very positive manner. Good publicity, especially for dealers.
  17. Totally agree. (I tried to spell that incorrectly but my Mac won't let me)
  18. I wouldn't want to be in her shoes either.
  19. Yes you are absolutely right d8veh. Perhaps I got a big carried away with the excitement of riding my new bike for the first time. After several more rides I should understand the lights/state of charge relationship a bit better.
  20. Yes I do have the 17aH battery. I might have made a error, because the battery level indicator has five lights I assumed each light was 20%, and after my ride there was four lights showing hence the 20% used. On reading the manual just now it says four lights=80%-60% so it is quite possible that I have used twice the amount that I originally thought.
  21. Thanks Taff. Went for my first ride on Friday morning. From St.Asaph to Dolwen which is just past Betws yn Rhos, a round trip of 25 miles. Probably the hilliest route I could have taken. I tried to stay in Eco mode as much as possible but had to use Sport and Power mode quite a few times to climb the steepest parts. I was quite surprised to find that I had only used 20% of the battery power. Really pleased.
  22. Thanks. I'll definately like it for that price:)
  23. Well I've taken the bull by the what'sits and my Focus Thron Impulse will be delivered in the morning. Not sure if I've done the right thing but there's only one way to find out.
  24. If money was no object, which bike would you buy?
