Kalkhoff Pro Connect 2008 model
Many thanks for the information on the Alfine hub/system. I wasn't aware of how they were marketed. Mine has a continuous red line around the hub towards one side. I've been out for a ride today, only my second outing it rides beautifully, the gear change is positive. This is my first ebike, I was originally going to buy a rear hub motor driven bike, but I am really pleased I managed to find this bike, I absolutely love it. The crank drive is a pleasure to use. I may have to replace the what I believe to be the original 10 Ah battery at some time in the future, but up to now it seems to hold it's charge well.

spectacle/helmet mirror
Many thanks for your reply. I have tracked down a UK supplier, so will go ahead and order one. I have used a bar end mirror before, but they tend to move about a bit. Many thanks.

Kalkhoff Pro Connect 2008 model
Picked up a Kalkhoff pro connect yesterday, 05/08 production. Panasonic motor, Shimano Alfine shifters, with a red labeled Nexus hub, 8 gears. Which I understand is an Alfine hub in all but name, without the disc brake facility? Would I be correct in assuming this is so? Thanks.

Kalkhoff Pro Connect 2008 model
I have put a new set of forks (in 2012) on my bike so that I could fit a front disc brake. That coupled with rim brakes on the rear makes a good compromise.

Kalkhoff Pro Connect 2008 model
Thanks for the information. I am going to look at a 2008 pro connect with the Panasonic motor later today. The bike has rim brakes, but don't know what make. Will keep you posted. I know you own or have owned the pro connect model, and rate it highly.

Kalkhoff Pro Connect 2008 model
Thanks for the reply. I know they have rim as opposed to disc brakes. I wasn't sure about the hub function as a back pedal brake, maybe this appeared on a later production run? Or was it an optional extra. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me if this year model with the Shimano 8 speed hub has a back pedal brake?

basic no frills Speedo/Odometer
Just bought a bike without a LCD panel, it's just got the power, assist level indication. I wonder if anyone can recommend a good basic display, wireless or wired for the bike. Many thanks

Wisper 705 Torque or Raleigh Motus step thru with hub gears.
Point taken. It's bad enough in the car riding over/in them!

Wisper 705 Torque or Raleigh Motus step thru with hub gears.
What a great forum. Lot's of useful information from people who know from experience of using a bike being able to give honest feedback to prospective buyers. Point taken about the forks on the 705se. I don't intend to use the bike off road, so with less weight to carry seems a no brainer! Thanks to all.

Thanks for you response. I must admit that my heart says go for the wisper. There is an authorized wisper dealer not far from me, probably need to have another look. I am not sure if the crank drive would suit? What I like about the Wisper is the option to use a throttle, don't think the Modus has one. Been following the Llandudno wisperers blog on this site, he rides the 705se and makes good use of it. I wonder what battery size you have on your 905se? Another plus for the Wisper is the 2 year warranty and excellent customer service. Best wishes.

Hi, Thought I was going to go for the wisper 705, but now having looked at the spec on the new Motus. I am now having second thoughts. Any ideas from owners of both please? Thank you.

secondhand wisper 705se or New one?
Hi David, I am afraid getting that information would involve a 100 mile round trip from my house! Will probably try to find an ex demo/ nearly new 705se/705 Torque with a warranty. Many thanks for your offer. Regards Rob.
