  1. I did the same as Straylight, charge the battery indoors and only put it on the bike as i was ready to set off. Learned the hard way as i left it in the garage after a frosty night and it only went a few hundred yards before i had no power. It does make a big difference having it in a warm room for a few hours at least before setting off.
  2. I saw this at lunchtime and they were Giant bikes, although i dont know which model.
  3. Planners in our area i would assume have never been on a bicycle in their lives. They narrow the roads, extend the pavements as wide as the roads then put a cycle lane by the kerbside where residents park all day so no room for cyclists on the cycle lane, instead we have to dodge in and out of parked cars. Then when the car parking (cycle lane) ends you come to the cyclist dismount sign where you have to cross the road and ride on the pavement for a couple of hundred yards and dodge pedestrians trying to cross the road, before having to dismount again to cross the road to cycle on the pavement on the other side of the road and so it goes on. Sensible and safe cycling should now be considered a priority in all towns and cities, reduce congestion and accidents.
  4. Each individual block is 28mm x 70mm The whole area for the full pack to fit is 100mm wide x 243mm long and 70 mm deep although the depth could be increased as there is a dense foam protection on the outer case for the pack about 23mm deep. I did try to remove the pack but it is fixed solid in place, i assume it is glued so i did not want to try and force it. Electrics are definitely not my strong point so this looks like it would be beyond my capabilities if there is any complicated wiring procedure.
  5. Hi and thank you. I will have a look when i finish work tomorrow morning.
  6. Thanks Rog. A bit of a dilemma, yes the bike is still not in too bad a condition so maybe a replacement battery may be the best option. Then again i could get a new Cyclamatic for not much more, the people who have this bike seem quite happy with their bike for the money. Maybe just flip a coin to decide lol.
  7. Hi, i have a Wisper works 905e bought in 2007 with the 36v 10ah lion battery. Due to illness i have been unable to ride the bike for the past couple of years and with one thing and another the battery was not charged during this time. I did not expect it to work but tried charging it anyway, went back to work for a few hours and when i came back the light had gone green, but as expected the battery would not power the bike. I have tried putting some power briefly to the bike, it powered up and the motor turns fine. The fuse on the battery is also ok so i would assume that the battery is shot. Reconnecting the charger and the light goes green immediately. Is there a cheaper alternative than buying a replacement from Wisper as with the price of a replacement for a 4 year old bike it would probably be as well to buy a new bike. Thanks.
  8. Will give a call tomorrow morning. Thank you
  9. I am suprised that more manufacturers/distributers dont actually have a spare parts service. There must be a large propotion of customers who would undertake these tasks themselves if they were confident that they had the correct parts before starting the job as there would be less chance of running into problems fitting/replacing regularly servicable items.
  10. Hi, just got home from work. The opnly things i can see are. FØ160 or it could be FØ760 as the top is concealed. The only other thigs printed, apart from Zoom are. 06.G Patent 012153. I have done a google but have been unable to come up with anything. Thanks
  11. Thanks flecc, i`ll have to check it out tomorrow as i have to go out again now
  12. Hi, does anyone who has a wisper 905e know if the Zoom front disc brake pads are a stock item that can be bought in most bike shops, or as from reading Gary Winters review on his 905e http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/articles/55/1/Wisper-Works-905e-Owner-Reviews/Page1.html most likely that they can only be purchased directly from wisper themselves. Thank you
  13. How cold was it and where was the battery stored. 2 days ago i set off for work in below freezing temperature and my bike stopped working after about 400 yards. I tookit home curcing and swearing, but when i got home from work it was ok. The following day i left the battery in the house insted of on the bike in the garage and it perfotrmed perfect. I can only assume that the problem was due to the sub zero temperature that the battery was stored.
  14. MMmmmnnn. After being quoted £600 for an ex demonstration last year, then being charged £800+ you told me "No way on earth would we ever sell a 905e ex demo for £600" ????? Ok you did knock the price down to £720. I was livid at the time, i am still livid and a darn site more furious now

Being a former white van man, i agree that a lot of the problems are self made. There were a few on the firm who never used to take a break. If they had to take out the 7.5 tonne vehicles, they used to take the breaks for the taco when loading/unloading them, eat and drink whilst driving, then drive like lunatics back to the factory, and complain when they were given another job. I know when i used to do the same rounds, that by taking the correct breaks, and driving sensibly, then the round would be the only job you would have time to complete in one working day. The same people would then complain to the bosses, saying they dont know what i do making the job last all day (muppets). Luckily though, the bosses at this particular firm knew the score as they were former drivers themselves so they would have known if i was not pulling my weight or sitting half of the day in a lay by, and always took on board any complaints. Unfortunately i know that this does not seem to be the norm with a lot of other firms, a couple of drivers did pack the job in for more money with other companies, one was a very large company. They were asking for their jobs back within a month or two of leaving as they were being forced to work long hours with no breaks. I dont think i could ever go back to being a white van man again.
  16. One of the problems with cycle lanes around our area is the planning. A few years ago, the winding main road from our village was replaced with a straight road, approximately 1 1/4 miles. We were told that there would be a cycle lane would be built, and away from traffic from the new road, great stuff as the local council were continually boasting as our area going to be encouraging us to use the bicycle and they were investing heavily in this project. So when the work is finished, the cycle lane is actually part of the old road, which entails crossing the main road 3 times in this 1 1/4 mile stretch, one of which, is where traffic comes hurtling over the brow of an incline at 60 miles an hour. When coming back into the village, where the cycle lane runs alongside the road, the lane is full of drains below the surface of the road which give a heavy bump if you go over them. If anyone cycles along this stretch, NOBODY uses the cycle lane, instead we all use the road as it is far less hazardous than using the cycle lanes. There is a vast area of grass/weed/etc that runs alongside the road for the full length of the road. Surely any planner should have been able to see from the plan view of the project that it would have been far easier and safer to have put the cycle lane on this part of the area, giving us a straight and safe place to cycle away from the traffic??? At the moment, they seem obsessed with widening the pavements, thus narrowing the road, and then putting a cycle lane on this narrowing road when it could have been incorporated into the widening pavements. Why the pavements need to be so wide in little used walking areas seems to baffle everyone, apart from the planners. Another obsession is speed bumps. The ever narrowing roads are growing with them. They even seem fit to incorporate the speed bumps into the cycle lanes. Another recent one in a town about 8 miles from us, they widened the pavement for the pedestrians and built a cycle lane on each side of the road. In their wisdom, they seemed to overlook the fact that the householders park their cars outside their houses, thus they are now parked on the cycle lane, and as the road is now narrower, there is only room for one car at a time to drive down the road, if you want to use your bicycle along this stretch of road then you take your life into your own hands. GENIUS !!!!
  17. There is a Gazelle at a wildlife park not 3 miles from where i live. If your interested, give me a shout and i`ll put me camoflage gear on tonight and grab one for ya
  18. Hi urstu, depending on which model you have, prices can be found here... wisperbikes
  19. hehehe thats scary enough in a car The lake district would be a good place for me. Lots of place are very busy but there are quieter areas with some good cycling.
  20. Thats what i thought i had read thanks flecc. Methinks that that will be well out of my price range then. I told the wife that it would only be £600 tops that i would be spending. She has been ok with another £200 on top, but i dont want to push my luck by adding another 200
  21. Hi David (not a Hawkwind fan are we by any chance) I spoke to you last week and you kindly offered to let me have a trial of your bike, i have had a short ride on my bike to see how i got on, and it had no effect on my hernia. I was also wanting to wait until the weather fairs up a bit before testing as ideally, i do not want to test in the wet. Also now what i am hearing about the new bike is giving me second thoughts, Will i be better off for the extra money with the SE, or is the SE going to be out of my price range?? I will most likely give you a call tomorrow. By the end of the week, i may be a "king of speed"
  22. Hi, so are you both saying that you do not think that the Wisper 905e will be up to the job ???
  23. Thanks for all of the replies. The doctor has said that i will be ok to ride a bicycle so i would have thought that with the assistance of an electric bike then i should be okay. A pity i dont know how long it will be untill i have the operation, i see the specialist at the hospital at the end of the month so how long the waiting list will be i dont know. Any other views, opinions or experiances greatly appreciated.
  24. Hi, i have just been told today that i have a hernia on the left just above the groin. My doctor has said that i should be ok to ride the bicycle. Wisper bikes have asked me to call back on monday and they will kindly send me a bike out to try. My question then is, has anyone here had a similar hernia. Is it likely to restrict me too much untill i have my operation. I dont want to have to get the bike next week if i am going to be unable to ride it although an electric bike will be a lot easier than a normal cycle, and i dont know how long it will be until i actually have the operation. I dont actually feel too bad, and i am still working although deep down i think i should wait before getting the bike. Its just getting annoying as everytime i am about to purchase one, something always seems to come along to take it away from me
