On the basis that any oil is better than none, if yoi caked it in lard it would stil be better than the majority of clueless feewits out there with orange chains.

Seriously; any decent oil will do - 3in1, Castrol, engine oil, ATF (what I use) and give it a clean (or at least a rub down) every week and re-lube. Takes five minutes or less once you get the hang of it. Once I'm set up right, I prefer to give the chain a run of chainsaw oil every so often, as its non-fling properties keep it on the chain a bit better.

3) hmm for snow and ice there is no non-knobbly tire that will cut it. However, touring tires are a decent mix of puncture proof, grip and fast roll. My preferred as Continental Travel Contacts.

 

4 ) anything gore-tex. I like Gore bike wear Path jacket an you can find their stuff on half price here and there. I paid 80 for this jacket. I had altura before - its far superior. I'm told neoshell is a better fabric still. But ten you are into crazy money

They have a list of approved locks etc. which you must use to make the cover valid, but at least their requirements for secure storage are realistic (unlike some which demand 24 hour armed guards and Fort Knox style alarms on every door and window of your house. As for putting your bike outside in anything short of a blast-proof bunker . . . well, you get the picture.)

Wissy try cycle guard for ebike insurance. Note all insurers required a sold secure lock relevant to the value of the bike in your case it would be gold. Can send you a leaflet in the post if you would like?

 

I have not seen anything specific to cover bosch battery holder so just a case of seeing what you have which would do the job.

 

Regarding jackets. I go skiing in winter and Gortex is the best material for what you want. So would look at jackets with this material and see what you like the look of.

 

There are specific lubricants for chains we have three which we stock. Key thing is clean and lubricate chain regularly.

Goretex is superb kit, but not all goretex is equal:

 

Paclite (think that's how it's spelt) is nowhere near as waterproof as the heavier grades.

Chain lube - I've bee using car gearbox oil and found it very good. The thinner the oil the more often you will need to oil the chain. I just check before I ride that the chain always looks nice and oily all over. I usually turn the bike upside down and apply the oil as I'm turning the pedals around so it goes on the whole chain. Though you could leave the bike the normal way up and just wind the pedals backwards.

 

Tyres I like these as a good all round wet / dry on road / mild off road tyre for mtb wheels

I totally agree with this, I use Schwalbe Ice Spiker which have more spikes but the ones Artstu recommends may suit you better as you can raise or lower the pressure to determine how much the spikes come into contact with the road.

You will be amazed how much grip you get on ice and packed snow but be careful on tarmac, they will be OK but less grip than rubber!
