November 18, 201312 yr Has anyone tried cutting off the tread section of a smaller older tyre and putting it inside the new larger one? It sounds like a free way of getting the marathon plus extra thickness protection, and without struggling to fit their undersized offerings :-) . Also, if either tyre has Kevlar, you get that too, unique! Use a sealant dosed tube and you're about as protected as can be. Have tried 3 extra layers of inner tube tween tube and tyre. Guess what? Yep, haringeys roads have struck again and damaged the tyre casing creating a small bulge, ho hum!
November 18, 201312 yr I bought a used Claud Buttler MTB, which didn't roll very well, so I decided to change the tyres. For the first time, I was nearly defeated in getting the 26 x 2.1" rear tyre off. I finally succeeded with my motorbike tyre levers, and found the reason why it was so difficult. There was a whole 26 x 1.75 tyre underneath!
