February 14, 201511 yr Well sram actually.... Haven't been able to use my Haibike for a few minths now due to the accident and hole in my knee. then I had to try and replace the expensive little aluminium thing that holds rear derailleur as it was bent big time. managed to do that eventually despite the sram click box doing everything it could to piss me off. Then the end of the dear cable to click box frayed. I ordered replacment cables - 2 in case - and started to replace one earlier today... ARGHHHIH! i assumed right side cable would be right side gear thing on handlebars (I am female) so opened up the sram thing on the handlebars to get to old cable end.. Whilst doing this a large coiled spring just jumped out as did a plastic screw top thing. NO IDEA how they fit back in.... Thought I would worry about that afterwards..... So I the cable and all that and couldn't figure out why on earth it was stuck and would not come out of tube thing... Dirt or something I though.. Grrrr. Then I eventually figured out I had cut the wrong cable and this was the one direct to the drop down knobbly thing.... GRrrr. On the positive side I thought at least that sorts out the obstacle issue and as I will be opening the second sram knob thing on the handlebars I will figure out where the coil spring came from and the small plastic black screw top thing. that is female logic ... AS IF... The same thing happened again and the coil flew out before I could figure out how it 'sits' and so did this small plastic screw top thing... ARGHHHHHHHH Soooooo.. I will send a photo once it arrives from iphone to my email (long story there also) to put in here.. In meantime I would appreciate some help putting the damed gear knob holder thingies back in place and especially where coil goes and how... Has 2 sticky put ends ., one longer than other.... What position and where does it go and how. What about the small screw top black plastic thing. This is like a 10 second job I guess once you know where the accursed things go. And if anybody even hints at going to a local bike shop etc etc I will SCREAM!
February 18, 201511 yr Author well... Left to my own devices I got it reassembled although no idea where the black rubber bit should have gone. Did a test ride and gear changes worked fine. Emailed Martin at ebikeshop who clarified what I should have done (or not!!) and where the black thing went.. Cable entry point (I was not thinking in 3D assembly mode). Seems I should not have opened the sram switch thing at all and simply unplugged cable through the hole where the plug covers. Doh! Many thanks to Martin yet again. Now need to find out how to replace brakes on this bike.. Not pads... (Argh?!)

February 18, 201511 yr May not help in your case Wissy when bits flew out but something I often do (when I remember) before disassembling anything is to take a few pictures on my phone. Then when I remove a part / cover / cap etc. take another. Amazing how many times this has been a lifesaver when I've come to reassembling.
February 18, 201511 yr I would suggest that you speak to other cyclists locally. They are usually both approachable and helpful. A cycle track on a nice Saturday would be a good start. Most will either help or know someone who can . Often just being shown how to assemble things is all you need to become confident enough to DIY. Also check if there are any bike maintenance classes in your area. The local Further Education provider is your best contact. Being female and not being able to assemble things does not make you inept, it's just something new you have yet to learn.
February 18, 201511 yr And also do a bit digging on YouTube. You'll be amazed at some of the guides/how-to available of there and if nothing else will give some comfort/confidence to proceed. PS hope the accident wasn't too bad and that you are recovering from your injuries.

Always best to wait for our response rather than posting here as you could get 2 conflicting instructions. We know our bikes the best..
February 18, 201511 yr Author Appreciate that Martin but was hoping somebody was bored enough to assist... Rather than hassle you for small things. And you know by now that I hate speaking on telephone .. Get my English all mixed up. Regarding taking photo.. Well I 'was' going to do that but the bits flew off as the casing was open. i would not have patience with real-life cyclists to join a club or anything like that. Reharding books.. Nah.. They usually outdated. i do use lots of youtube and google etc to find information but many times they never give exactly what you look for.. eg photos and videos of inside the sram not at all same as mine but gave me a general idea except for the bung.
