Hi Guys, A new Nyon software update will be released shortly, which includes some new and interesting features for Nyon as well as for the app (eBike Connect) and the online portal (eBike-Connect.com). I have summarized all the updates into an overview for you here. Topographical residual range: The premium Nyon "Topo Range" function can be purchased using the smartphone app (for iOS and Android). This displays the residual range on Nyon, taking into account the topographical conditions and the selected level of support. New dashboard: The most important riding data at a glance. A clearer dashboard layout is also available for the first time in the Nyon app. Manual Sync button: The Sync button initiates synchronization between the Nyon, app and portal via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Unfinished / unsynchronized activities: Unfinished and not yet synchronized activities are listed and highlighted accordingly in the list of user activities both in the app and in the portal. Data transfer via "mobile data": The user determines whether map streaming or activity uploads are to be carried out via mobile data. Shift recommendation: The Bosch eBike system detects when the rider is traveling in the optimal efficiency range and recommends shifting up or down as appropriate. eShift integration in Nyon: The integrated electronic gear shifting solution is now also supported by Nyon. I use one of these and it's great. Conserves water. Can clean 4-5 real mucky bikes off one tank. It comes off much easier on the day before loading them up over leaving the crap to bake on until the next day! Also handy to spray the dog off and the mrs uses it to water the flower pots out the front Normally charge mine off the mains, but it'll work 12v too. Got a light on it, never used it but sure it'll do the job if you arrive back late.

Hi Steve, A couple reviews here on the model above. As Eddie says it's the same frame, travel, electric system. The FS 500 has better components. I.e wheels, brakes, suspension gearing etc. Bear in mind it's a brand new model so will of course take some ride time before people submit lengthy reviews. The motor casing is a rubberised plastic so not prone to scratching. It's also made in this colour as opposed to painted. So it wouldn't rub color off. You'd literally have to pivot on a boulder to touch the housing anyway. All the best Martin

Good shout Flecc! Yet to see another Bosch. Notice the Gepida also has a second auxiliary brake for the rider to the rear for safety. A neat touch!

New firmware has been released by Shimano to make automatic gear shifting possible for e-bikes with SHIMANO STEPS components (DU-E6001 and DU-E6010) and Nexus-8 Di2 (SG-C6060) sealed hub drive units. The Nexus-8 hub with Di2 electronic shifting capability now takes gear shifting a step further by automatically selecting the best gear based on a rider’s cadence and speed. That means riders don’t have to worry about which gear to select, the bike will always choose the optimum gear based on speed and the pressure the rider puts through the pedal cranks. When activated, the SHIMANO STEPS system automatically gives a signal to the Di2 hub to shift to the matching gear. Alternatively, if the rider wants to take control, they can simply turn the unit to manual electronic shifting via the SW-E6000 handlebar switch to change gear manually. How it works: In automatic shift mode the drive unit temporarily reduces the chain tension while pedaling, which allows the hub to automatically change to the correct gear. This is especially useful when a rider is not used to shifting gears or suddenly needs to stop. The result is a smoother riding experience, one where a rider can focus on what’s ahead, rather than worrying about which gear they are riding in. The system was tested across a variety of terrain including flat areas and hilly areas, from cobble-stoned villages and cycleways to busy cities, to ensure perfect performance with fast cadence, high power or stop-and-go accelerations. Self-learning system: The system also adds a further advantage with the ability to learn from a rider’s riding style and preference for cadence and power, so the rider can change the default RPM settings at which the hub changes gear. Shimano is the only brand to offer automatic and electronic gear shifting as a complete system, making for an easy and stress-free riding experience, and a responsive and personalized performance. Hi Guys, One new bike in three will be an eBike in the medium term, Bosch forecasts Bosch eBike Systems with a tailwind in the market “The eBike is increasingly becoming a lifestyle product” More than 500,000 pedelecs expected to have been sold in Germany in 2015 Risk Pulse study forecasts global market growth of nearly one third by 2023 Had some communication from Bosch's market research a few days ago that shows how great growth in eBikes. With Germany peaking over the half a million point alone in 2015 the market is set to grow further: Stuttgart/Reutlingen – The market for eBikes achieved further significant growth in 2015. For the first time, more than half a million pedelecs are expected to be sold in Germany. One driving force in this growth market is Bosch eBike Systems. “We achieved double-digit growth again, a higher rate than the market average,” says Claus Fleischer, Head of the Bosch eBike Systems business unit. “We remain confident for the years ahead. The potential is enormous. In the medium run, one new bicycle in three sold in Central Europe is likely to be an eBike.” For many people, the eBike is more than just a means of getting from A to B. “The eBike is increasingly becoming a lifestyle product,” says Fleischer. A glance at cycle stores shows: from comfortable step-through and everyday models to sporty eMountain and practical eCargo-bikes, the range of eBikes on offer is individual and varied. “One trend to watch is sporting use. Electric is now gaining momentum among mountain bikers.” Successful electromobility on two wheels The eBike is also highly significant in terms of traffic policy. “eBikes are the entry point to efficient, emission-free mobility,” Fleischer is positive.
