The battery is the thing not to skimp on cos however big it is it won't be big enough. I went from a 400 to a 500 and the difference is that the display segments last that little bit longer.

First ride update

one word Fab-u-lous

24 muddy miles and 2402 feet of climbing

2 bars left on the battery readout and this also included me giving my mate a push up the last two climbs back to the van a bit of Ebike assist .

real shame some water on the cam lens as this was very surreal when the sun appears

The bike was awesome I loved it but the only thing I was not happy about was the tyres had no grip on this terrain so looking for 27.5 Plus tyres with better grip for the winter .

Hi Mr T Yes I did look at the longer travel version but decided 130 mm was plenty for my riding .

I have now done 5 rides on the bike and loving every mile .

todays ride in the Dales was 29 miles 2500 feet of climbing and they were hard miles for the battery used eco and some tour and the battery died 200 metres from the van at the end .

temperature was -1 c for the whole ride

I prefer the look of the grey 130 and to be honest I am not hardcore on the downhills so 130mm will probably be ok for my needs. sounds like you had a good day out today and the range certainly is impressive. I believe the cold weather reduces the range quite a lot?
it was plenty good enough for these rocks

Is that the Yorkshire section of the M62 or Leeds bypass ?

Hi Trouty

Whereabouts is that I ride a bit around Clapham ,Ingleborough, Barbon area

Some distance over that terrain do you manage on a single charge ?

Have done the tour of Pen y Ghent last year at 20 miles and just made it

Just managed to do the whole ride on one battery but died 200 mtrs from the end .

I did have a spare battery in my backpack

It is not good for battery to run them totally flat, try end your ride with about 20%.

My understanding is the battery management system takes care of the cells by not letting them run down too much .

Was thinking of getting this bike too. Ilkley or Otley is nearer for me but I can't see Trek cycles for sale in Chevin cycles or Ilkley Bikes.

Not sure what the Long Travel means , is it meaning longer battery life ?

Ah ok thanks, in fact just found it on the Chevin Cycles site with 10% off just under 4K .

Might go down and see them tomorrow.

Done it !! Ordered one from Chevin Cycles.

When the Mrs finds out, I'm dead meat :(:eek:

i bought mine at http://www.allterraincycles.co.uk/hot-deals-bikes

on a black friday deal with 15% off

Shipley or Wetherby

Yeah, I only got 10% off mine. I wanted the interest free credit too but then you loose the discount so I'm gonna put it on a new credit card with zero percent on new purchases for two years. :):)
