April 8, 20188 yr Hi all As a newbie to the world of pedelecs can anyone help with my options for buying a spare battery The bike came with 36v 10.4 ah with 250w brushless motor fitted to the downtube. I see different batteries on offer and am in need of advice on Wether I can fit a 36v 15 ah or maybe a 48v battery I'm guessing the 36v would be ok Thanks
April 8, 20188 yr You can use any 36v 10s battery, ah just means more capacity/range. For 48v you have to open the controller to see if it will go pop or let off the magic smoke. If the main inrush capacitor is 50v then you can only use up to 12s 48v but limit the charge to 41.5v per cell, if the caps are 63 v then you can use proper 13s 48v.

April 8, 20188 yr Let's make it clearer and safer. If you want to go to 48v, get a 48v controller as well as the battery. Although a 36v controller can work, it brings all sorts of problems and risks, which could brick your battery.
