I have a raleigh strada elite (shimano steps e6000) with a 9 speed Alivio groupset and considering fitting di2 in the near future.

 

Dont have much knowledge when it comes to the technical side of bikes so apologies in advance if i ask some dumb questions.

 

So I'm looking at either Shimano Alfine 8 speed or xtr 11 speed

 

Would I be correct in saying I need the following components?

 

- 11 speed cassette (if choosing xtr)

- hub/derailleur

- shifter

- gear display

- battery (&charger)

- cables

As for the Alfine I can get the hub from ebay but cant seem to find the rest. Anyone know where I can get the additional parts needed?

if i was you id get a lbs to install it as it seems easy but its not esp if you have never done anything like this b4.

 

just seems more hassle than its worth tbh and a lot more things that can go wrong.

Yea definitely not planning to fit this myself, just wanted to make sure i have all the correct parts before I take it to the shop.

well it looks like its all there but you might need extra cable depending where the batt is going to go.

 

tho any bike shop that has fitted this b4 will know for sure

For an e-bike prefer the 8 speed over the 11 speed, it is stronger, you don't need more than 8 gears unless you live in the mountains (then you need 14...)
