June 8, 20223 yr ill let the buyer pi$$ about with it if they want windows its just getting all the drivers to work again. i have got the win 7 discs somewhere in the attic so can sell them with it and a dvd drive but it should boot from a usb stick if crapple has not bricked it from working like bootcamp.

June 8, 20223 yr Author Looks fiddly. I'd use 90% isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) and make certain layers applied with it are dried thoroughly before contacting each other. And use ultra soft lint free cleaning pads. Reminds me, must look for a new board for one of my displays, which isn't as easy as one might want - last time I looked for a replacement display board, it cost more than a new display. June 9, 20223 yr Author Like most house dust it's human skin flakes, circulated in between layers by the internal fan(s) plus dust from degrading parts within the case, I think, which is probably why they glued the screen layers in later versions. You'll know for certain, if it smells like athlete's foot?

You could always install a USB sound card, if USB works fine. Does it have firewire?

June 9, 20223 yr i could fix it i just cant be bothered as just needs the right driver sound is there just not coming out the speakers. tho in device manager there are 2 audio devices but cant choose the nvidia one in windows. apart from that and the Bluetooth usb host controller and web cam not working the rest is fine driver wise.
June 9, 20223 yr Author I had to delete drivers and reinstall/detect hardware on one of my Windows 7 PCs which has an nVidia graphics card - nVidia's hdmi kept hijacking all sound. I eventually got Windows using Asus Xonar PCIE. It was really irritating, because with the Xonars, one can switch the DAC with a higher quality Burr-Brown, although the Wolfson is very good. Still, there's too much noise from PC RF, so I use external DACs via USB for recording. I'm going on about sound again. Edited June 9, 20223 yr by guerney

I always ask them how they feel about working in a cex shop.
June 9, 20223 yr no it is just software but with the fan flat out got it down to 43c idle and 55 ish with a 4k vid playing. got it activated now as had old key i bought years ago so good until 2025 when win 10 support dies. will wait on the i7 and see if they come down in price as no real need for it atm and needs more ram anyway.
June 9, 20223 yr Author You can sometimes find i7s of the right type for that kind of PC in "Spares or repair" ebay auction laptops, which can sell for less than a secondhand i7, which is weird.
June 9, 20223 yr only the i7 s version will work in this mac and way faster than my old 4 core amd from 2006. but in device manager i cant see the thunder bolt ports
