Halfords battery very pricey, where instead?

Featured Replies

|Hi

I have a Carrera Crossfuse. I would like a second battery for going a distance.

Halfords charge around £500 for a battery, to me this is an extreme amount for a battery, is there anywhere i can get a compatible battery for less, or even a better one to extend distance. Just wondering if anyone knows any good dealerships. Im reluctant to buy second hand because its difficult to tell if its faulty or on its last legs until its too late. Thanks

Being a bosh battery you have to pay the price as they are proprietary bespoke batteries.

This is why I went for a conversion with a 750 watt battery from the start, people say "Oh I am happy with a 300 watt it is enough for my needs", then they like cycling so much they do 20-30-40 miles which in fact is just a 20 mile out and 20 back.

I have two bikes and therefore have two batteries,

AVOID 100% any cheap batteries sold on Ebay/Amazon if told to get them AND fake branded batteries are also on ebay so don't think if it says Bosch it is a Bosch

or try Torque-E-Cycles in my sig he might have 1 for sale.

any bosch dealer can do a service report on a batt like no of charge cycles ect but will charge for it.

or bung peter a email at ebike motor centre as he has a magura account but the life cycle of these batts are coming to a end as the new smart ones wont work with the older motors

Not sure how to get a 750w conversion, I would like it though.

Yeah its this one Peter, much better price. I don't know Merlin cycles, they look legit though. I'm gonna give them a call to make sure it fits the bike then might buy it. Thanks, much appreciated

That one is 400w, the Halfords one is 313w. I know there are different types of Bosch batteries that aren't compatible, but someone like soundwave understands better - he may be able to confirm that one is ok and, as you say, double check with Merlin Cycles
