Shimano MT200 Hydraulic Upgrade

Featured Replies

Whilst the bike was off the road, I took the opportunity to get some upgrades done. With the help of my brother, we swapped the cable brakes for some cheap hydraulics.

I took the opportunity to buy some br59 barbs and olives as I expected to have to cut the kit down. But turns out the hydraulic line for the rear was too short, so I had to by 2m locally and sort that issue. Good job I already bought the olives, etc. and a bleed kit.

Fitting was pretty straight forward. A simple swap out of the cable calipers and routing of lines, all done.

Whilst at it, I also swapped the gear shifter for a compatible Shimano 7 speed that was a little smaller.

Hoping to squeeze a bell on top of it. I lost the really nice bell built into the original brakes left lever.

Yes. A lot more responsive than cable. But then I also went for sintered pads too.

If I were you I would add some new bolts as finishing touch. Yours look quite rusty,

2M rear hose? That's pretty long.

Anyway, well done, a good upgrade.

Probably cut down to 1800, but the one it came with was too short.
