Hi All,

I have a :48V 20AH (100-1800W) battery which I purchased in August. I charge the battery once a week and everything thing was great until last week. According to the charger a steady Green light, so I connected it to the bike on a TX60 and when I turned on the lcd display unit it shows it's flat one bar flashing and and the code 06. I am sure I have checked all the wires to make sure they are not loose. Any advice on the matter please.

I would start by checking battery voltage.

With out knowing what display /controller system you have one can only assume error 06 indicates LVC/Low voltage.

 

The battery should be under warranty if bought from a reputable seller,

so this should be your first port of call for any issues before delving into self testing .

 

That said every ebike owner should own a cheap voltage meter so that a simple battery state of charge voltage is known.

 

To find out/explore where the issue lays one needs a digital volt meter (£5 - £10) to ascertain the possible cause with a simple reading that doesn't need anything more then placing two probes on the battery +/- to get a reading.

 

A charger green light doesn't necessarily mean a battery is charged , all it indicates is that the charger no longer is providing current to allow charging.

The charger sequence should always be Red led indicator for a depleted battery then Green (usually) after a few hours to indicate charge cycle completed.

2. Battery fuse blown .

3. BMS faulty.

4. BMS not switching on to allow charging to commence becuase it has sensed a low cell voltage issue or other fault such as a wire issue within.

5. Charge jack input fault.

Some LCDs use a literal moving average to update the battery level in the display, so you have to ride about 20 to 30 metres before it updates. The only way to know whether your battery is charged is to measure it with a meter.

Hi, Both battery's are fully charged, I have checked all wires are ok. I have changed the controller and its still the same error 6. Any Ideas.

Hi Nealh, I have 2 ebikes and I took the other battery off the bike that I know is working, got the same result.

I changed the controller, just in case and the same result. Could it be the lcd unit.

Sorry I don't have one. I have two bikes so I changed the batteries over and got the same result. Also changed the controller and the same thing. I will buy one today, and test it tomorrow.

I was in Aldi yesterday, where they had some pretty good ones for about £7.

The only way to know battery voltage is via meter reading or a display reading which shows voltage , one can't fault find by guessing.

Good Afternoon All, Sorry for the last replies, I have been ill. Have tested the battery and its showing 48v. I have a second battery which I hooked up to the bike and the same thing happened. Low battery and error 6. It's a SW900 LCD unit and a Femex Ride Intelligent Brushless Controller (3 Modes) FR4820 Series. Max Current 40A+- 0.5V Power 2000W Min Voltage 42V+-0.5V. Battery can't be all those things at the same time.

Was battery fully charged when you measured voltage? 48V is low for charged battery.

 

Can you post some pictures of battery, bike, controller. The more the better.

...I have funny feeling about your setup and your batteries.

If fully charged battery should be 54v - 54.6v.

A solid green led on the charger doesn't indicate anything , it simply means no current transfer to the battery so no charging in process.

Typically all generic type chargers are dumb chargers and will only charge if the battery BMS allows current to flow.

 

Most likely reason is battery BMS not switching on to allow the charger to charge.

BMS has detected a battery cell fault or wire fault, a battery cell fault may be a low battery cell group voltage less then 3v /3.1v or even a cell group at 4.2v and much highe rthen the others. Both of the latter means a battery out of balance.

If you have a meter carefully check the charger output voltage from the charger jack it should read 54.6v, be careful not to short pins and probes together.

 

Via the battery charger lead probe the v+ & v- for a voltage reading as well.

Despite that which we have said do go back to my #3 and read the second sentence written.

Contact the supplier /vendor first before doing any thing else.

Are you sure controller is not set to 52V? It would see 48V battery (actual voltage) as empty.

 

...but still 48V battery should charge to 54.6V

There are two possibilities that i can think of:

1. Your battery is faulty

2. There's a short circuit in your system that pulls the battery's voltage down.

 

Either way, you need a meter to see what's going on. You should charge the battery and check that it reaches approximately 54.6V. Then, while the battery is connected, check the voltage again and leave your meter measuring when you switch on to see if the voltage drops at that time or any time thereafter.
