KT Brompton kits PAS configuration help please!

Featured Replies

I've installed conversion kits in my wife's and my own H6R Brompton C-line from 2013 and every thing works well EXCEPT:

The throttle works appropriately with power (?gear) setting with both bikes.

Pedaling, the LEDs light as each magnet passes the PAS sensor, motor runs but always at maximum speed; PAS / gear setting level has no effect.

Brompton conversion drive kit parts:

AKM-74SX 36V/48V 250W Front Driving Hub Motor KT-D12L/KT-D12R Dual Hall Sensor D12 Signals and KT24 controller. Both bikes / kits exhibit the same problem.

My LCD4 settings:

P1=201

P2=1

P3=1

P4=0

P5=11

C1=201

C2=0

C3=8

C4=4 50-4

C5=10

C6=3

C7=0

C8=0

C9=0

C10=N

C11=0

C12=4

C13=0

C14=2

C15=6

C1 settings tried with results W=works X=doesn’t work

00=X

01=X

02=X

03=X

04=W

05=W

06=W

07=W

08=X

With C1 setting @4,5,6, or 7 the motor spins at maximum speed and PAS setting does nothing.

Ideas?

Pedaling, the LEDs light as each magnet passes the PAS sensor, motor runs but always at maximum speed; PAS / gear setting level has no effect.

P3=1

So power based pas rather than speed based

So unloaded motor will run at maximum speed irrespective of pas level

(PAS levels affect the power not the unloaded speed)

You should get the same speed in each Pedal assist level. It's the power that's different in each one. The setting is P3=1.Why would you want it any other way?

The best legal way to set the throttle is so that it's limited to 6km/hr when you're not pedalling and global speed limit when you are. That way, you can use it as an instant override for the pedal assist setting when you need a burst of power, without having to go all the way up and down with the pedal assist buttons. IIRC, that's P4=1 (non-zero start throttle), and C4 =2. If you want a fully-independent throttle, it's P4 = 0 and C4 = 2.

The pas selection section of the pdf i downloaded for my ktlcd display was the most oblique Chenglish i had encountered. My solution was to just cycle through each of the 5x or 6x options until one worked. ;)

Thanks!!!! I will try under load if I can find a spot without ice here in Minnesota.

C-1 was actually set at 4, not 201, my bad.

Thank you all!

My PAS does work correctly under a load...... :)

Thanks for reporting back, it's always nice to know we correctly identified the issue :-)
