LED SW900 Wrong settings

Featured Replies

Hi All. I accidentally set up the wrong settings on my ebike. I have a 2000w controller on a 48v battery, but l set my SW900 to 36V in stead off 48V. I still good power and at least double the mileage. My question is am I damaging the Battery or the controller on these settings. If not can l still keep the settings.

Thanks for taking your time looking at my post.

I think it means you are relying on the battery management system to cut out at low voltage rather than the bike controller

You should set it back to 48v, which isn't difficult. When set to 36v, the controller will allow the battery to drain down to 31v, which is too far. The BMS in the battery will prevent it going that far, but could be as low as 32.5v, which is still too low to prevent battery problems.

Also, when set to 36v, your battery will show as full all the time on the SW900, so you won't have any idea of when it's empty until too late.

One won't get more mileage then before, all that is happening is you are falling in to the trap of believing so because the LED range indicator hasn't moved much.
Just to re-iterate what Neal said, the setting 36v/48v has no effect on range whatsoever, except that it will let the battery keep giving power below the point that's safe for it. At most, that would be about 5% to 10% extra, not double. If you're getting double the miles from a charge, it's because you changed something else, like maximum speed or maximum current.
Everything d8ve say's is correct, ultimately if left at36v setting one will eventually run into balance and charging issues.

Thank you All, l will set it back to 48v now. I only notice it after l had done 48km and l knew something was wrong. Many Thanks
