September 15, 201015 yr I've caved in and ordered one too. I want to strap it my dog to see what sheep herding looks like from his point of view.
September 15, 201015 yr I just downloaded the updated software from 7dayshop and that clearly state's maximum 8gb in the instruction's. It's just below, Whats in box on page below. 7dayshop.com - Online StoreIf you looked at the 4gb version it says "In the box: 1 x 4GB Micro SD card". Does that same model have a max of 4gb? I think not. Look at the "Features" above where it tells you about the recorder, not what's in the box. Colin
September 15, 201015 yr (Tillson, we know you guys in Derbyshire are famous for your interest in sheep). My mini cam has now arrived and clearly states in the instruction a max of 16gb. Can I claim the prize for the best deal? £7.56 for the camera from Hong Kong (8 days delivery) and £9.99 for an 8gb class 6 card sourced from the UK. The quality is startling for the money. My wife thinks I am very very sad! What's she complaining about. I could be chasing sheep!
September 15, 201015 yr (Tillson, we know you guys in Derbyshire are famous for your interest in sheep). There are some very attractive sheep in Derbyshire and my dog sorts out all of the good looking ones for me. So the laughs on you!
September 15, 201015 yr Those cameras are rubbish, I wouldn`t take one as a gift (pm me if you need my address:D and isn`t it Wales where the men are men and the sheep are wary:eek:

September 23, 201015 yr The batteries on my two cycle cams seem to only last an hour or so, anybody else have the same issue... Yeah, autonomy is not great. I am considering "upgrading" to an improved model to shoot the front view (something shower/rain-proof would be nice), whilst using my current cam for the rear view. Otherwise it is a fun little gadget to use casually. I just wouldn't recommend it to serious commuters who need everyday reliability, and possibly greater autonomy.
September 24, 201015 yr If you looked at the 4gb version it says "In the box: 1 x 4GB Micro SD card". Does that same model have a max of 4gb? I think not. Look at the "Features" above where it tells you about the recorder, not what's in the box. Colin I wasn't reading it from Whats in the box? I said the latest software download is just below Whats in the box. The specifications quoted in the User manual included in that software are Support 30 fps for 720*480 Support USB1.1 and USB2.0. Support 8GB T-flash card.(maximum) Its also printed on the back of the box they come in, right hand column fourth line down. I suppose it depends who you choose to believe, the maker or 7dayshops version of the feature's. Edited September 24, 201015 yr by onmebike
September 24, 201015 yr I have had one of these from 7 Day Shop and have tried a 16 GB card in it. They do work. The only criticism that I have is regarding the LED which is supposed to indicate what the camera is doing. I have found the following to be the case: Charging: Blue LED on Power on: Blue LED on Standby: Blue LED on Recording: Blue LED on Recording Stop: Blue LED on As a consequence, I tend to find that you have absolutely no idea what it is doing, what mode it is in, whether or not it is recording anything or if you have been successful in capturing any video. Apart from the fact that it is virtually un-usable, it's very good! (Well ok for £12) On the plus side, I have managed to attached the little lanyard that comes with it to a compass which I obtained out of a Christmas cracker.
September 24, 201015 yr My one from 7dayshop has a red LED but its so dim you can't see it in normal daylight. When charging the blue LED pulses, when recording the red LED pulses but you need to find a dark place to see it. I've lost a few good videos on the bike because the unit wasn't recording when I thought it was. My even cheaper cam off Ebay has great LEDs easily seen in normal daylight Unfortunately its made so poorly the buttons don't always work and it locks up on occasions.
September 24, 201015 yr Author Charging: Blue LED on Power on: Blue LED on Standby: Blue LED on Recording: Blue LED on Recording Stop: Blue LED on I think you've got a dud. Mine has various combinations of red and blue flashing in various sequences so it's easy to see what it's doing. I still think this is amazing quality video for the price!
September 25, 201015 yr I notice this later version has a replaceable battery. New Mini DV DVR Video Camera Sports Recorder Camcorder - eBay (item 330469272165 end time Oct-05-10 18:31:51 PDT)

I still think this is amazing quality video for the price! I think you are right. The video quality is very good though and I can live with the fault as I won't use it very much anyway. For a few pounds, it isn't worth the effort of returning it.
September 25, 201015 yr OK, I'm interested, but being to lazy to shop around for a Micro SD card:o Therefore to save me doing the trawling, is it cheaper to buy a camera with card included or source one seperately:confused: J:) hn

September 25, 201015 yr Some pics of the insides of the cheap cam: http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l82/_NRG_/other/Bike/DSCF5303.jpg 230mAh battery, measures about 40x15x5mm and gives just under an hour of filming.... http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l82/_NRG_/other/Bike/DSCF5304.jpg Blue LED is easily seen in daylight but not the red one, it's simply too dim... http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l82/_NRG_/other/Bike/DSCF5305.jpg So I thought I'd drill a hole in the case to enable me to see it.... http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l82/_NRG_/other/Bike/DSCF5307.jpg The hole is not quite in the right position I should have drilled it a little futher forward but at least I can now see the LED! The plastic is really soft and those tiny screws strip the threads easily so beware.
September 25, 201015 yr Brilliant! And having seen the film (superb quality, even with your comments about YouTube), I want one too. My problem seems to be that (having had a quick glance at those on ebay) is Operating System for the drivers - they all seem to be for PCs (inevitable, of course). So now my hunt begins for one that works on Mac OS X. Might be cheaper to buy a PC! A.
September 25, 201015 yr You only need a driver if you want to use it as a web cam, other wise it appears to the system as a USB drive, it should work on any Mac....

September 26, 201015 yr Thanks for the info Tillson; always good to meet another iMac user. A I made the change to a Mac earlier in the year. After many years of Windows usage, my patients finally ran out. The endless security updates, re-boots, lock ups and other crud made it a hateful experience. I have had to install Parallels and Windows 7 on the Mac though as I occasionally need to use Memory Map and some accounting software that won't run under Mac OS. If you haven't already done so, it's worth installing Windows on your Mac. Every time you boot to Windows, it reminds you that the outlay for a Mac was well worth it.
