Kettler Layana

Featured Replies

Yes, it's made in Germany by the Heinz Kettler gmbh company Barrie. It uses the Panasonic crank drive unit and has received favourable reviews in Europe. Kettler aren't only a bike company though, they also make trainers and sports equipment. They now appear to have set up a direct selling wing in the UK.

Hi Flecc and thanks for the info, still confused there seems to be 2 levels of quality from China, Wisper and I dont know which other, but still working on it, trying not to make a mistake. Barrie

I'd say four levels Barrie. There's the odd ones like Wisper and Ezee who are led by dedicated people and build their bikes to a high standard, constantly trying to improve them and listening to their customers. They also back their products with top ranking service.

Then there's a mid-budget mainstream where the bikes are built of basic but sound components but remain consistent, and these are usually imported by companies who wish to stay in the business and do their best to give good service with resources perhaps a little more limited. To give just one example out of a number, Juicybike are typical.

There's a small group below that which are basically sound bikes though often using older technologies, but imported in bulk and sold at rock bottom margins and very low prices. The Cyclamatic bikes sold by SportsUK are typical of this group.

And then there's the junk, constantly changing models and specs, sold online through ebay etc by manufacturers and importers just out for the quick buck. These aren't necessarily low priced either, they are often at high prices and sold with inflated specs to trap the unwary.

Its just that I have not seen this e bike before, so was looking for a link so I could have a look that is all. But I see that it is a Panasonic system......New van great thanks, Just back from a lovely week in Brecon & the Gower in Wales.

we have a Kettler table tennis table in the garden and used to have a trampoline from them as well they are BIG in supplying sports equipment

Here's the Kettler German website with Google English translation to see all their products.

And here's the Kettler Direct English online sales website.

Thanks Tony..not cheap then! May as stick with established bikes from the likes of Raleigh, Kalkhoff and E Motion I would think?

Yes I agree Eddie. Another thing to bear in mind is that with the e-bike sales not up to the very optimistic forecasts of a year ago, some of the new entry names will disappear just as fast as they arrived.

The market is grossly over-supplied at the moment, threatening to reach a supplier for each buyer!

Ok, a slight exaggeration, but it's going that way.
