I have convert my bike with a Bafang BBS02 750w with a 48v 17amp battery. All going great after 300 miles. I purchased a programme cable at the same time which I haven’t used as yet. So far all I did was alter the top speed setting to max and kept it on 3 PAS. Was very pleased . Range was about 35 miles. I now have changed the settings to 5 PAS so far it works better . I do have to increase the PAS to 2 or 3 to climb hills but range has increased. Yesterday I did 20 miles and only lost one digit in the dash . Is anyone using the 9 PAS? If so how good is it .

I've got it going from 10% at level 1 to 90% at level 9, but I only ever use level 9 unless I'm severely short on juice, or need to make a very long journey exceeding 40 miles, when I use level 7 or 8 (70% or 80%). I use level 1 (10%) when the battery is almost depleted. I had intended to use the lower levels more, but don't, despite having become fitter. Laziness...

Did you program it your self or are there the factory settings? Would be good to know what the factory settings are wouldn’t it?

I used the programming cable to set it up - the original PAS settings I've noted somewhere, but they really were all over the place and utterly pointless in use. Arbitrary. From what I've read elsewhere on this forum, they're occasionally set by the reseller, rather than left on factory settings. (BBS01b)

Sorry, I've just remembered that I reprogrammed the PAS levels again the other month: 10% at level 1, 100% at level 9, and a division of the remainder between the other levels.

(100-10)/8 = 11.25

For me, the PAS settings now work perfectly. But the great thing about the Bafangs is that you can set them up to suit you.

My original PAS settings - but yours were likely different, I've got the BBS01b and we might not buy from the same Bafang shop:

The bike was horrible to ride set up like that.

You can set the parameters as two sets/two modes of use, use 1 - 5 for low torque high speed for range in flatish terrain and then set 6 -9 for high torque and low speed for proper of road stuff and hilly stuff.

That's a great idea - saves getting killed on technical off road parts, zooming off into space.
