I thought with the sparticle setup there was a frog battery connected to the seatpost. It looks like this one is all contained in the front bag like the nano setup.

Excellent advert for electric bikes btw.
There have always been build options, it depends on what you want from the bike and the size of your pockets.

I just watched the video again. On first watching I thought it was referring to the lady rider. But of course it is the guy and you dont actually see his bike. Only its performance relative to other bikes. near to the end of the video clip there is a photo of a 93 year old holding up a sparticle conversion and that does have the battery at the rear. So maybe that was also true of the video clip.

Hi Colin,

Do you think the secondary jack is necessary for spreading the fork in parallel?

Where did you get that jack?

Thanks
Pat

This is how I spread my titanium forks

Obviously no good for painted steel forks as it would damage the finish. The most time consuming part was filing out the Ti dropouts!

Got the motor from Jane. It is SWXB in matt black. The colour matches my brompton perfectly.

I don't think I can use the torque washer supplied but I have the one from TETS that should do the job well.

Hi Colin,

Sorry for more questions. For this SWXB 340RPM gets overheat quite easily? I am reading something post regarding to 301RPM motor and it got fired after climbing up steep hill.

Thanks
Pat

Don't worry Pat that other motor was used to drive a 26" wheel which overloaded the motor, you should be OK using it on the 16" wheeled Brompton.

Thanks. Just wondering would you recommend to use 48v battery for your swxb setup? Do I need to replace the 36v throttle and LED panel to 48v version?

I personally would not recommend it, all you would achieve would be an increase in top speed at the expense of running the motor inefficiently draining the battery to produce heat not power, not to mention your motor life expectancy would reduce unless you are very careful not to overheat it, also it would mean you would stress the forks more and would have to be very careful to ensure your wheel build is absolutely precise.

Yes you would need both items upgraded to 48v.

If you need to make reinforcing washers to strengthen the fork ends similar to the ones shown they can be made from cutting, filing and drilling this stock material:

ALUMINIUM RECTANGULAR TUBE 30mm x 20mm x 2mm x 300mm LONG | eBay
Please ignore the item listed above, it is too big and not thick enough to do the job required.

However I have now sourced the ideal stock material and with a few hand tools and a drill should be able to make them.

Aluminium Square Tube - 30mm SQ x 3mm Wall x 250mm Long | eBay

I am looking into mounting a side entry battery onto the main frame together with adding a controller box to the steering tube so that all wiring will be contained on the front of the bike.

I have just received some pipe clamps which fit the main frame and will not effect the fold.

RUBBER LINED ANTI VIBRATION PIPE JUBILEE FIXING CLIPS | eBay

A metal mounting plate can be fitted to them with 8mm screws and the battery carrier then mounted to that plate.

Interesting ideas. I think I would still put the controller in one of the back C bag pockets though I guess that depends on how many connections you have to it. Mine are simple motor, throttle and brake cut out.

Hi Jerry,

My idea is to terminate all the handlebar items and PAS sensor using Binder plugs and mount Binder bulkhead sockets on the controller mounting box and wire internally direct to the controller.

It could be removed with only external cables for the motor and battery which would be short as they are in close proximity.

Snap-in connectors IP 40
