That’s nice for you and kind of what I expected from them, somehow I managed to get almost the opposite reaction to the great service you got.
I’ve not heard back from jimmy yet but have resigned myself to accepting I,ll just have to buy a new one if he can’t sort the battery
I also know any bike I buy in future won’t be Volt and will be honest in my experience of the company when folk ask me about the bike in future

Sorry to read about your battery problem, but this is how I see it.
If you look at the 'B1' on the side of it there are some stamped figures on it,(just about make it out on the image you posted) above the word Spin. On my battery it is marked up as 'Power Pack 630'. the sticker above the lock, output 36V Extra large. It also has warning bullet points. When I purchased the bike new back in Feb 18, at the time it cost me an extra £300 , to have the larger capacity, against the standard one, my choice!
You purchased a second hand bike, you don't mention if it has a service history (my Volt had a free service at 6 weeks), with the owners handbook stamped. Why was the seller off loading the bike, perhaps a dodgy battery! you don't say. Because Volt bikes come from new with a 2 year warranty to the first person who purchased it, you expect them to come running open arms with a replacement battery, they did not! So in your eyes Volt are poor quality. All I can say is my Volt is as well built as me Specialized Stump Jumper Comp.
I don't expect to get the number of charges out of this battery, it's just the nature of what it is a consumable part!

I’m just glad we have so many experts on my situation
I know exactly why the bike was sold, do you know how much I paid for it? I can easily afford a new battery and still be quids in but it has also nothing to do with my environmental concerns or any other concerns I mistakenly shared . If you need a hand getting off that high horse, I can maybe help out with a scaffolding or a ladder

Muddy got his fingers burnt. May be health reasons by the seller, strangely 3 weeks later the battery gives up the ghost. Tried blaming Volt, He purchased the a second hand ebike?

Op is now using insulting tones to get his point over, not very clever in my view.

Most dealers aren't allowed or can't repair batteries. Manufacturers /battery makers often won't entertain repair as it is not cost effective.
Options are to send it to specialist repairer like BGA/Insat or try your self.

A lot of dealers only deal with warranty claims from original buyer, Woosh or Wisper will agree to extend give new warranty if bike is checked out by them or a dealer.

Not at all, if we get back to my original point, my main problem is with the non environmental attitude of dump the battery and buy a new one without even bothering to look at it
People jumping on the thread to gloat or call the very nice old fella who sold me the bike a thief and a liar are just looking to cause bother, and looks like succeeding
To add to this, when he sold me the bike he was very upset about giving up on it as it was a 60th birthday present from his wife and wished me all the luck in the world, and remember, when he sold me it, it was under warranty which shoots down this image of a dodgy rip off merchant. And lord knows how anyone who never met him or seen the bike can even think such nasty bile.
The conversation has now jumped a million miles from its original intent and people coming on board to stir the pot
And if people don’t like aggressive replies, don’t come on just to snear or score a cheap laugh.
If someone can explain any other reason behind post 66 I’d be happy to be shown my error. But until then my opinion of the guy stands

Can you tell us where do you live?
One of us may be able to do a quick diagnosis on your battery.
How many miles did you do on the bike? and how many miles on the odometer when you bought it?
You may have to open the battery casing. Do you have a multitester?

I’m guessing a lot of my posts are being overlooked
For the record, I have no doubt the bike was sold in good faith and very low use. It still had dimples on the tyres and under 200 miles if I remember correct
The battery had absolutely no signs of a problem when I used it until it started making the sparking noise
I mistakenly thought it was the XL battery costing £600 to replace and was a bit annoyed the company would encourage dumping such a otherwise good battery without even an attempt to identify problem never mind repair it, in my dreams I hoped I might get a repair, not a replacement
It is now off for repairs or not depending on the issue
I have no problem buying a new battery at £330 but still think it seems a terrible waste of good materials and I will still be very much cheaper than buying a new bike, although still without the protection of the warranty of course
I will only now update this thread with a update on the battery situation, if it can be repaired or not and what the problem was if it could be identified.

Thanks to all who helped with valuable information and suggestions.
I will leave it now to anyone who wants to contribute but will leave any replies until I have an update on the battery or have ordered a new one

From when I played the odd game of Pub Sunday League football you would occasionally get two players from your own side falling out. Always amusing for the meager band of supporters on the side lines.

Here we have two Volt owners winding each other up.

Though I have noticed before that it is all too easy to say something on the internet that you would not say to someone in front of you.

Perhaps a bit of thinking from both of you before pressing the post reply button might not have gone amiss.

If you were in my Volt Arms Pub side I would be trying to get you both to see that each of you is a little out of line and shake hands. I don't know how you do that on a website!

In my own battery/charger issue there was nothing wrong with the battery or charger. They both just needed new connectors fitting.

My dealer was great but I was then and still am a little taken aback that Yamaha/Raleigh had no facility where the dealer could send my battery and charger to have their connectors replaced/mended.

I was quite happy to pay for the repair but that option was not available. I managed to mend it myself but someone else might not have been able to.

If Jimmy can get a courier to pick up batteries from peoples houses and then in due course return them I cannot see why bike manufacturers cannot do the same.

If I were Volt bikes I would want to be as helpful as possible with anyone who contacted me who owned a Volt bike whether bought new or second hand. This is just basic good business. If you go the extra mile you will be rewarded with good publicity not bad and the bonus of the possibility of repeat business in the future.

I recently acquired for a £100 from a pedelec member a second hand Oxygen Emate City to provide spar parts for my 2011 one. When I got it home I could see that it would not take much to get it working. I needed to replace a spoke that had broken in the rear wheel.

I rang Oxygen who were as helpful as could be and sent me 9 spar spokes free of charge that I received in the post yesterday. Well done Oxygen, not for the first time.

Spot the difference Volt.

Oh and I would not be having a go at Woosh who are at least trying to explain the issues manufacturers have with batteries as well as offering advise. In my opinion that is very good of them. Maybe my next bike should be a Woosh.
