Hi guys & girls , i have a quick question about my carerra cross-city e bike. all was working when i put it away for winter. I brought it out and put the battery on charge until green light came on charger approx 7 hours. my bike won't power up any ideas? i have a neighbour bringing voltmeter home later, just looking to see if anyone has had this issue or quick fixes.

What does "won't power up" mean? Battery won't switch on, Control panel won't switch on, panel switches on but the motor doesn't do anything, or what? If the control panel won't switch on, it's because it's not seeing battery voltage. If the battery doesn't switch on, it's probably gone to sleep so needs waking up.

Battery has full charge as far as i can tell and put rocker switch to on but pressing power button on handlebar control does nothing where as it normaly runs a self check.PS how do you wake up battery?

You can download the manual from Halfords. It's a legal requirement that they provide you with a manual when you buy the bike.

I had this on mine
I assumed the battery was totally dead

WHen you say that you put it away for winter - I am assuming that you are in the Northern Hemisphere so it has been store for several months???

If so then what percent age charge were they when they were stored and has anything been done to check on then while they were stored?
The theory is that lithium batteries do not like being stored unused for long periods of time
ideally they should be stored 70-80% full
and ideally they should be used and recharged back to 70-80% from time to time

Let us know how it goes with the voltmeter

If the worst comes to the worst you can get replacement batteries form the WWW - it is not a battery solely for the Cross city
you just need to know whether it is for the 2 pin or 5 pin version - the 2 pin are quite old now!

Does the battery have a SOC or SOH option that one can press ?

State of charge/Health.
Some batteries have a button one can depress , leds will light up to indicate the SOC or Health of said battery dependant in how long the button is pressed.

Almost certainly the battery has had it, these lithium batteries should never be left neglected for over three months. Once you've bought a new one, don't leave it for as long again next winter. Once about every two months plug in the charger for a brief top-up between 15 and 30 minutes, not to fully charge it which would be undesirable when in storage, but to prevent the cells dropping to too low a voltage and unable to recover.
