You can't blame Halfords. Nearly all ebikes suffer from this problem. The technology is changing all the time as manufacturer's find ways to make them better. The only way to guarantee that you'll get spare parts when you need them is to buy a bike from a brand that promises you that service (e.g. Wisper) or to buy a bike that has standard modular parts, which can be replaced with other standard modular parts.I think halfords are useless as they cannot supply most of the parts...not even a bottom bracket for one of their products.
Hi DaveI have since found out that the part i need is a suntour BB15ATS-SQS as i have the 2017 carrera vulcan...halfords have none of these so im looking now for a secondhand one.
Yes the amount of people I try to steer away from Suntours and put on kits is a lot .It still makes me wonder why folks deal with Halfrauds for bikes especially the Suntour system bikes.
I would think it’s will notI found suntour also unable to supply most parts...they could not even send me a schematic of the motor pcb......but i was fortunate enough to be able to repair the motor myself without the the schematic....i still feel these companies should support their products for longer than they do.
You probably have a pre 2019 VulcanHello Baz....I had a look at your ebay listing bottom bracket but i think the width is too small as the one i need is 137mm...halfords cannot even supply this part !!! your faulty battery pack cannot you try and repair the BMS or just swop from another faulty battery pack ??? are these BMS pcb's not availiable as a spare part ??? i think suntour have really done a very bad job on their after sales service !!!
I have been talking to an engineer at topbike kit about this he also agrees to abandon the Suntours BMS and suggest Hailong ones because of realistic budget for the the Carrera batteries, but then we have to change Controller, LCD, PAS because of the Comms system .Hello Baz....if it were me i would either try to repair the BMS pcb at component level....or use an alternate 36v BMS....i have made up many battery packs for electric drills and other equipment using off the shelf BMS boards....with the damaged vulcan frame i was lucky that it had the battery attached and the speed controller...and torque sensor...i think he had lost the key so he could not remove it....i picked up a nice hydrulic clarks brake set the other day complete from a garage sale for £5 so i was very happy....the bottom bracket i will have to keep looking as i dont want to buy a new one.
