    New Pedelecer From Belfast!

What's the legal position on ebikes in NI at the moment? I seem to remember an issue a while back with Halfords withdrawing their sales in the area.

    Changing handlebars.

You could give your hands some variation by simply adding some bar ends. I had a similar issue with the bars on my Carrera Vengeance. I found some "mini bar ends" in Decathlon which help enormously. They clamp on and cost £10. I didn't even have to remove the grips; just cut away half an inch...

Many thanks; I guess that makes sense.

    Newbie with questions

Not fancying finding myself far from home with a puncture, on my new(ish) Carrera Vengeance, I decide to add the slime to my tyres. (I found this a very straightforward job, easier than I feared)! I have seen references saying the benefits of slime can last for two years, but nothing telling me...

I think I'll leave well alone! I've slackened off the brake cable a fraction and things are now working quite well. Many thanks for the help.

Following on from the above, I now see a second wire/cable coming from each brake lever (in addition to the one which operates the brake), and with what looks like a knurled adjuster next to the lever. Am I right in thinking that this can be used to adjust the point at which the motor is engaged...

Many thanks, Andy-Mat, for this oh-so-simple, but vital, piece of information. Yes, I've found this works (!) and makes all the difference to the bike's rideability. (Unfortunately, you don't get a user manual with a Carrera bike and I got very little guidance from the retail staff. How is...

Many thanks for the replies, guys. I have just found the thread "Speed(Cadence) sensors versus Torque sensors. This explains a lot. My ebike has a speed sensor (being at the lower end of the market) and I guess this is a characteristic of the type. I am sure, with familiarisation, I shall learn...

    Newbie with questions

I'm a newcomer to ebikes and I chose, as a "starter" bike, the budget level Carrera Vengeance, which I've had now for two months. First impressions are good; I have found it's hill-climbing abilities amazing. It has three levels of power; I find I rarely need levels 2 or 3. Level one gives a...

    Rain gear

I could never get on with a Cape because of the way the wind could catch it. I use a good waterproof jacket and, rather than overtrousers which I find cumbersome, I use"Rainlegs", a Dutch product which keeps the thighs and crutch area perfectly dry.

    New Carrera Vengeance

Hi. Have just bought my first ebike at the age of 72 as the hills around me seem to be getting steeper! Chose a Halfords Carrera as 1. I didn't want to buy online and 2. Halfords were the only retailer locally with a reasonable range of ebikes. Fancied the Crossfire when I saw it before Xmas at...
