    Swytch

My only experience of pedelecs is 3000 miles on a Boxer Cargo Tricycle. I have cycled since a kid but never had skinny wheels or drop handlebars. So I am a 70 year old plodder who hasn't ridden on 2 wheels for 5 years. I'm interested in Swytch to fit to a folder with hub gears to use taking the...

Should I go sensible or out right fun? BBSHD vs TSDZ2 350w

The ride is Bitterne to Whitely via Swannick. This is roughly the map: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/50.9086153,-1.3463362/Whiteley+Way,+Whiteley,+Fareham+PO15+7PD/@50.891614,-1.298424,13.61z/data=!4m9!4m8!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x48746efdedd279a5:0xb81a78ec6fa673e2!2m2!1d-1.2453365!2d50.8802197!3e1...

Should I go sensible or out right fun? BBSHD vs TSDZ2 350w

Looked on Google, toughest hill for my commute is 187ft climb over 1mile which works out as 3.5% gradient. I think thats pretty low compared to some of the figures people mention on here that are 10%+ Which hill? I've ridden most in Soton on a hub motor cargo trike.

    Stents...

I had one stent after Angina turned unstable 9 days after diagnosis. I felt 10 years younger immediately and haven't had so much energy for years. At cardio rehab gym sessions those who had it done as a result of a heart attack told me they didn't have the improvement I had.

    Wired bike lights

On my Boxer Shuttle trike the lights & indicators are the same as those on the Landrover Defender. The controls are a motorcycle type. I'm a complete numpty re electronics but it looks like they are powered via a DC to DC converter. I use them a lot in daytime gloomy conditions and the few...

    Time for a new battery

I hadn't but us southern softies don't get it very cold. Trike & batteries are kept in a heated garage. There was no drop in performance last winter.

    Time for a new battery

Best laid plans .... I've been waiting for a builder to screed a third of my garage floor. He rang, the day I started this thread, to say he could do it the next day. Humped all the stuff to the other end of the garage. Result - couldn't get to battery or voltmeter. Humped it all back today and...

    Time for a new battery

The charger is marked 'Output 42.0V 2.0A'. I do have a multimeter. The leads were changed from probes to clips and it's now part of a fine wire welder made for me by my neighbour. I got some new probe leads but couldn't get a reading from the batteries when I tried. I'll get my neighbour to...

    Time for a new battery

I've had a Boxer Cargo Trike for 2 years. I got an extra battery when I bought it. Used them alternately for a total of 2200 miles. After reading about batteries on this forum I wasn't expecting them to last too long. The motor is a 36v 250W rear hub and the batteries are labelled 20V 4400mAh...

A random thread for things too unimportant for their own thread...

We all need to have a good rant from time to time. All dogs should be shot because of a few irresponsible owners therefore all bikes should be banned because of a few irresponsible riders. My rant today is stereo headphones/earphones & mobile phones used on shared paths. The users should be...

Advice re new bike with hub gears.

Your mind is yours & yours alone. To my mind an ebike is to go from A to B using as many gears and as much of the available power as I feel like using. I couldn't care less if it's like riding a regular bike. It just has to be reliable. Thankfully mine is. I shouldn't have typed that. The...

Rear wheel puncture on cargo trike

The tyres are Marathon Plus and the tubes are 'Slimed'. Slime was everywhere. I would have ended up looking like a Martian. I have fixed punctures in the non motor wheels but struggled getting the tyre back on due to arthritis in my left hand. Only got one seat as it's the doggy version. The...

Rear wheel puncture on cargo trike

Had 1st rear wheel puncture in 2000 miles on my Boxer cargo trike a couple of days ago. Fortunately it was 400 metres from home so I walk assisted it back to base. I read on here how easy it is to deal with. Being a cack handed practical numpty ( if the grandchildren see me with a screwdriver...

eBikes Banned in New York City

I did thousands of miles on electric maxi scooters, governed to 62mph, to condition the nimh batteries. My job was to run them flat & charge them up 3 times. It didn't take long to find that many pedestrians rely on their hearing to decide that it's safe to step into the road.
