    SRAM eMTB specific drivetrain launched

Denis, Good to hear your feed back ref sram ex1. In all the years i've been riding and actually playing around with cassette ratios. The goal was to minimise large changes in gear ratios. This was clearly to improve smoothness, reduce chain stress etc. It will be interesting to see how this...

Eddie, just been nosey but are you adding another bike to your stable, if so which one. Also, are you keeping your existing bikes. :)

I agree Eddie. If SRAM is fitted go with it, but don't pay £300 for a cassette. Over the years I've had SRAM red, XT, XTR etc. MTB wise i'll stick with XT, as XTR isn't worth the extra £ vs weight IMHO. Roadie wise i'd stick with dura ace 9000, maybe even electronic. Can't believe i said that...

London Cycling, a bad start to the year

I love cycling and wouldn't judge who was to blame for any cycling deaths, as all are so sad for everyone. What i would say, is that i wish all cyclists and motorists would be more thoughtful to each other i.e. drivers giving way and more space when overtaking, and cyclists not going through red...

I hear what you saying Eddie and good points too. I'm always aware of traffic on the country lanes where i sometimes cycle. It's just one of those instances where i did everything right, and in that instance i was in the middle of the lane some 100 yards before turn, speed about 10mph and he was...

    SRAM eMTB specific drivetrain launched

I'm sticking to my std shimano xt group set, easy to repair and cheap to replace, vs the so called e-bike specific group sets. Honestly, i'm sure there are some minor improvements, but to me it's all marketing hype to get you spend more money as i'm sure we all know.

Newcastle Cycle Centre 15% Off Everything In Shop

Stephen, Thanks for great summary. Would have loved to stay in North East i.e Whitley bay, as lived there till i was 21. Eighties recession drove me South for work. I could go on about all the good times i had living there i.e night's out in the Big Market, lot's of friendly people and yes...

Car nearly took me out last night, despite right arm being extended well in advance of turn, and i had a exposure saddle light, helmet light and backpack light on. He then had the nerve to stick finger up after i shouted (screamed) at him. Driver was middle aged mercedes driver c63! I'm...

    Buy new Dongle or not?

Had to do a a small mod to bike tonight. The hanger is attached to frame via a m4 bolt about 10mm long. when i changed tyres noticed the hanger thread had worn and was loose. Also, noticed the m4 bolt only threads halfway through the hanger (not great design. Luckily i had same m4 bolt but 15...

    cold hands

Not sure if this helps, but over winter i bought a pair of gore silk under gloves which are thin, silky and easy to wear when you put on a pair of winter gloves. Winter gloves alone for me is not enough and these keep my fingers warm...

Just completed 101 miles on bike over last 4 nights, all country roads. Been using schwalbe marathons mtb plus, brilliant mtb road tyre for rolling and more importantly puncture resistance on road only. Not great off road of course. These seriously are great for puncture resistance. Anyway...

That's why i did a 26 miler tonight on country lanes, as sick of washing bike :)

    Buy new Dongle or not?

It actually look clean on bike, and clearance from casing. The derailleur is long (i assume), so longer chain only way to go. Be interesting to see what speed you can average comfortably, also if you have enough gearing for steep hills. My problem is i like to tinker with bike set up as well...
