Hi I now run igh on both my bikes one alfine 8 and one nexus 8 inta the power handling capability is not a problem at 250watt but you have to roll off the power to change gear reduce the load .The easy way is to flick the rear brake to cut power or fit the gear sensor fitting a spring...

Hi Stefan Tried to convert a cube hyde recently with a gates belt drive and a bbs o1 but it proved to be nightmare as the tension mounts under the bottom bracket fouled the top of the motor had to admit defeat:( But have managed to convert a charge 29er single speed ok to alfine 8 chain...

nice build:D yes it is hard to find a guard both wide enough and long intended to buy another set and cut and shut the length but other build has me distracted might return to this one or sell it

Thanks yes it is a ongoing project the brakes are hydraulic with cut outs just got a new wheelset with nexus igh gears and the touring racks have arrived . the main thing is to enjoy the build process but you will have the bike you want and not off the peg and at a reasonable cost

The short lead from the bottom of the motor is for the optional gear change sensor can I suggest you visit the Luna cycles web site they have some very helpful how to videos

Once you get up to speed the extra inch's make all the difference the motor power evens out the delay in the take up, the pot holes also seem smaller , if you leave the wheel set to 26 the speedo is out but I agree it seems faster but the gps says it is not:confused:
