Bafang Mid Drive Tear-Down - Advice required.

I've had no mechanical problems and I'm approaching 4k miles with a maxed out controller. What size chainring are you running? Like you, I'm doing some nasty off road stuff, but I'm running a 42T chainring and I always keep the motor spinning fast.

    Bafang Bbs01 unusual fault

Agree that they are robust mechanisms. I would have thought that all three pawls would have to fail at once, for there to be zero drive at the crank. Odd o_O

Out of interest, what symptoms are you getting that led you to believe a stripped nylon gear?

    noisy brakes

You can buy bike specific degreasers, but you could use car brake degreaser or electrical contact spray you have lying about in the shed.

Check pad and disc condition, then a good degrease.

Are small bike stands any good for eMTBs?

You might get away with using one like in this thread: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/bike-foldable-and-portable-workstand.19991/ I use one on a regular basis. Very quick to attach to the bike and perfect for tweaking gears and general maintenance. Can store almost anywhere too. My...

    Chain stretch?

Yep, definitely the chain. I've been using KMC branded chains, which I find are durable and good value for money.

    Chain stretch?

Eh? I understand the advice about riding until it starts slipping, but rusted solid, really?

Not being funny, but they've got the BBS02 at £509, whereas Eclipse retail it at £395. If Eclipse sold the HD, I would expect the price difference to be similar. That's a lot of extra notes for basically the same product, seller reputation, warranty and aftercare.

Oh dear, I must be a goon :( Still reckon that for flat terrain, a hub motor is a better option though.

You won't get 40 miles out of the BBSHD, unless you have a huge capacity battery, or reprogram the controller for much less performance. You'd be better off riding a bike with a 250w hub motor. Reliable and efficient for your style of riding and terrain.

I would have no worries about buying from overseas, especially from the likes of EM3EV or Luna. In fact I ordered from EM3EV a long time back, and that was after incessant questions about their products. They were patient and professional with me. The problem is if you do have a warranty issue...

+1 on the Samsung 30Q's. My 30Q pack is way better than the 29E pack ever was.

    which charger?

As long as the output voltage is 29.4v, then that should be fine. If it is exactly 29v, as stated on the Power Devil, then it might slightly undercharge the pack. Also, 400mA is a pretty paltry output current, and the battery will take a very long time to fully charge. 25 hours for a 10Ah...
