    Help! Street Machine GT conversion

Yes, did wonder about the 12 magnets, seem to recall people having issues. Not too bothered about changing levels, though this may be because my Ezee is speed control rather than current level.

My name is ..... And I'm new here.....

Maybe some of the non slip strips that are sold for decking. These are hard resin strips with a coarse grit embedded. They could be screwed down?

    Help! Street Machine GT conversion

I've put together a list of gear. This assumes that I'll start with existing 36v batteries and migrate to 48v when I've learned the handling of the 'bent'. Therefore I've specced a 36v motor (which is quoted at 201rpm) which should take it to around 280rpm at 48v, when I'm ready for higher...

That can't be right, can it? They're showing torque washers with the nut assembly. Aren't the diagonal lines on the shaft indicative of a flat? I would think that a motor without flats is a spin out waiting to happen.

That's the info I need, thanks. I seemed to remember you praising the 128 in the past. So we are looking at this one then: https://www.topbikekit.com/akm128h-36v48v-800w-rear-driving-hub-motor-for-ebike-p-889.html?zenid=hu5kfe8pjohgvnvvi7c8o49nt6 They are recommending the T12H controller which...

Preferring to stay at 36v I'm looking at this https://www.topbikekit.com/akm100h-36v350w-ebike-rear-driving-hub-motor-p-679.html?zenid=uneijs4gkrjafo7kuukugufi07 No torque figures are quoted so not sure how it compares.

I've only gorn and dunnit !

Took the bike out to Pembrey Park today. Midweek so hardly anyone around and plenty of empty carparks to hoon around in. I learned that I'm not yet safe to be on open roads, some of the wobbles were quite pronounced. Also the bars were slighty off centre meaning my left leg was rubbing on my...

    Help! Street Machine GT conversion

Many moons ago I used to work for BT. I saw what 50v D.C. was capable of, although with potential of extremely high current. It makes me a bit wary of 48v. Is it really OK - out in the wet (does happen even though I try to avoid it)?

    Help! Street Machine GT conversion

It's west Wales that I've been cycling for years on a front hub with only a body weight shift to the front, on steep bits, and no standing. Current kit is based on an Ezee. So it's this high torque that I would look to replicate. If I could find an unmarked Bafang BPM, that'd be nice. Here's...

Good shout Neil, thanks. Hard to tell from the photos but it looks like the motors are unlabelled. Is that right? 'Cos if so the 100H looks apealing.

    Help! Street Machine GT conversion

I'm struggling here. I want to get rid of the Dillinger kit on this bike but am struggling to find supplies. So, here's what I'm looking for: Rear wheel hub, cassette or free wheel, don't mind, currently has a 7 speed fitted. 26" wheel. 9 or 12 Fet controller (there's a lot of hills around...

Hub Motor rattling - not a lot but annoying

You're not going to believe this, but have a look anyway. Hub motors can make a real mechanical sounding noise, even with vibration coming through the handle bars on a front hub, when their electrical connections are poor. Told you you wouldn't believe it. Have a look at ant connectors on the...

I've only gorn and dunnit !

This is turning into a saga. Got the chain links today, still waiting for the tools. Got a nice new shimano centre lock disc for the front. But, oh bugger, it's 180mm not 160 (no bad thing I suppose), so just ordered an adaptor. New pads on their way. Very bright flashing twin rear light...

I've only gorn and dunnit !

So, the Son dynamo is a through axle or bolt with a very wierd unique shaped nut which I'm not sure I trust that much. The socket the previous owner sent me has a very small stress crack in it and I can see it failing. Does anyone know what these things are called? Can I replace it with...

I've only gorn and dunnit !

New ventisit seat pad arrived today and feels good. Tempted to try a short ride but discovered that the front disc is horribly worn. So, new disc but, oh bugger, it's a centre lock and I'm waiting on the special key, from the previous owner, for the dynamo axle. This bike is providing a whole...

I've only gorn and dunnit !

Thing is, with the state of a lot of the roads around here, even 25kph is too fast. Especially on loose and slimy surfaces.

I've only gorn and dunnit !

Finally got the bike on an improvised stand. Ran the motor up and found that it's registering 50kph in setting 9  Don't know how accurate that is but, even if only 10% out, that's scary. This motor has got to go. It has no markings and is a big, black 9" dinner plate, bit too obvious...

I've only gorn and dunnit !

Thanks Anthony, great info. Just waiting for quick links and pliers. Got any info on a good mirror. Current one is very low down, but I guess that's just where it has to be.

I've only gorn and dunnit !

I find that I am rarely, if ever, out of the saddle when riding assisted. It's this, combined with the narrowness of the saddle, that seems to cause a variety of numbness/tingling/soreness. which changes from ride to ride. Hopefully sitting in a much wider seat with some body weight taken by...

I've only gorn and dunnit !

Yup. After 65 years of upwrong riding it's gonna take some getting used to. I'm hoping it'll remove the neck and wrist strain and enable me to travel further without the detriment to my nether regions.;)
